The Stickle Barn Tavern, Great Langdale

Had used this pub several times in the past and really enjoyed the good food and great beer, and the staff were lovely, BUT the last time we visited was AFTER the National Trust had taken over in 2012.

A walking group of about 15 of us had decided this was a good lunch stop - WRONG!

We all agreed that the food was somewhere between mediocre and awful AND very expensive to boot.

The other pub nearby that the NT also run gets terrible reviews as well - the NT are great at saving stately homes but absolute rubbish at catering. They have ruined what was once a great pub and none of us will return there either as individuals or as a group.
