The Magnet, Stockport

I can't believe people have given this pub a low rating, In my opinion the joint best pub in Stockport (with the Crown).14 very well kept real ales, 3 draught continental lagers, draught real cider or perry and a full menu of bottled continental/US beers and ciders. The decor is good (the room at the back is going to be renevated soon) My better half likes this pub far more than the Crown and does not feel uncomfortable if she arrives first and has to sit on her own for a while. Likewise I'll quite happily go in for a pint or two on my own.
The staff are very friendly and will help you with your selection. A good colour coding system on the chalk board makes choosing easier. If you're ever in Stockport don't automatically head for the Crown, this pub is well worth a visit, you will not be dissapointed.

The Fox Inn, New Mills

A perfect small(ish) traditional country pub and as good a pint of Robinson's Unicorn as you'll get. We were with locals so obviously finding it wasn't a problem but it's a stunning walk up to the pub. We had kids with us and it was no problem whatsoever with friendly staff and customers. Real fire which was welcome on a January afternoon. Can't wait to visit this pub again.

The Wickstead Arms, Nantwich

I thought this was a great atmosphere pub with some characters around the bar. The beer was on top form but I can't remember whose it was...... I'd been in a few by then. My only slight problem with this pub was it was too brightly lit. I wouldn't let that put you off though, well worth a visit if you like proper pubs.
