The Duke, Richmond

I think some of these reviews are a bit harsh. At the end of the day the Duke is exactly what it looks like from the moment you walk in the door - a gastropub verging more on the gastro side but with a couple of comfy sofas and seats off the dining area where you can chill out and have a drink. No, it's not a pub, but it's still a nice place to have a few quiet jars in small company - and maybe even one of their thick-cut chorizo sandwiches and chips.

Brouge, Bistro and Belgian Beer Cellar, Richmond Upon Thames

A really fun bar, great selection of beers, including strawberry and cherry for those who like something a bit sweeter. Taster tray is good fun - 8 different draught beers in shot glasses, the bar staff helpfully tell you which is which. Nice atmosphere below street level, very authentic feel, nicely furnished and excellent service, would definitely recommend it for dinner, drinks or both.
