What a shame. This pub looks so good from the outside but the manager in particular is clueless.
Went there for Sunday lunch, two beers available, the local TEA by HogsBack and Doombar from Cornwall. The Doombar was OK, but the TEA was well past its sell-by date, tasted of vineger and not nice vineger at that! When I asked for a replacement the manager made no apology for serving up out-of date beer. With only 2 beers on, how hard is it to taste it each day to make sure it's OK?
The food was OK, but they had managed to turn the countries favourite, fish and chips, into a sad pastiche of what good fish and chips is. Very little for the veggie here as well.
Don't stop, carry on to the Rd Lion by the green in Fernhurst, a much friendlier place with well kept cellar.

The Red Lion, Fernhurst
If you want a view of traditional English landscape and the typical village scene, then this is the place to head. The seats out front add that idyllic feel to the taste of good ale.
The staff are very friendly and the landlord is a CAMRA member happy to chat about beer. It's all Fullers with one guest, Elsie Mo, when I was there. All served in good condition.
Haven't tried the food yet, but it's often busy with people eating even weekdays.
This is a much friendlier establishment with properly kept beer, when compared to the Kings Head on the Midhurst Road. Don't go there when you could have so much more in the Lion.
