Griffin, Danbury

I can only assume that the positive comments already posted about this pub have been posted by someone with an interest in it. My wife and I ate at the Griffin with a couple of friends during the week and can advise that it is, without doubt, the worse dining experience I've ever had. I ordered Scampi (for �9.50) and didn't even attempt to eat it it was that dry and over cooked. There were perhaps 7 pieces of 'scampi' on the plate and a few chips. A friend of ours had ham, egg and chips and was astonished to find that the ham was like wafer-thin ham that can be purchased out of Tesco for a fraction of the �9.50 price of the meal. This was also sent back. The other two meals were barely edible but marginally better. Whilst accepting that the ham was processed ham out of a packet (!) the manager didn't however apologise for the meals but offered us 50% off our next meal there. Wasn't sure if he was trying to be funny! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS
