The Peartree, Welwyn Garden City

I feel very saddened when i go in the Peartree these days,the place is a wreck! this Pub deserves better.
I don`t know who currently owns it but they need to spend some dosh on it fast
or the place will become an other boarded up eyesore, architecturally the building needs to be saved hopefully as a Pub.
With the new Chieftain open just down the road is this the final nail in the Peartree`s coffin ? I`ve lived in the Woodhall area for 50 years and have never seen the place looking so shabby.

Chieftain, Welwyn Garden City

The new Chieftain is now open! and nothing like the old the old boozer, it`s now a one bar pub nicely decked out with stainless steel bar top, comfy sofa`s and funky wall paper, ( no sign of skid row ) I knew this Pub when it was a 4 bar welwyn garden city landmark, and the various migrant families that gave the place its unique character. But that was then, and this is now! as for the beer it sells that has remained basically the same, McMullens standards and all the various lagers, the place even sells espresso coffee (Shock Horror) the menu looks pretty good currently doing a 2 for 1 deal. All in all, i really like the new look Chieftain, with a better management team the place will be a great addition to a town that lacks decent Pubs. Viva La Chieftain.
