I recently stayed in the Chatsworth Caravan Site near Baslow with my partners parents. We fancied a pub dinner so we looked on this site.
This pub is a lovely pub despite the comments below. The food was pub food and tasted nice, the staff were polite and attentive and in line with the two comments below is a cosy friendly pub.
As we looked on this site we searched for Baslow and two pubs were listed, this and the Derbyshire Arms. Given the two bad reviews for the Wheatsheaf and as strangers to the area, we decided that the Derbyshire was a safer bet ... but it wasn't. This is why I am surprised at the two bad comments for the wheatsheaf and how they specifically suggest you go to the Derbyshire as the Wheatsheaf is terrible .. bizarre as we found it to be the other way around!!
The Wheatsheaf was a lovely pub with lots of people in for dinner on a Sunday evening at 7.45pm, whereas the Derbyshire Arms is dirty, with a musty smell and when I visited, completely empty ..
To be honest you need to form your own opinion. If you are staying in Baslow or the Chatsworth Caravan Site I would suggest going into both pubs to make your own mind up (they are across the road from each other) .. and if the Derbyshire is on a parr to how we found it, then you, like me will be reading the messages and thinking this doesn't compare to reality.

I stayed at Chatsworth Caravan Site with my partners parents this weekend and we fancied a pub dinner. As the site is next to Baslow it made sense to go there so I looked on this site for information. The Derbyshire Arms came up as the best one on the list, but this is far from the truth.
We walked in expecting a pub in line with the excellent comments but what we experienced was dissappointing so much so that we walked in one door then quickly out the other!
The carpet was dirty, the place had a musty smell to it. It was 7.45 on a Sunday evening and the only people sat down eating were the staff. The place wasn't inviting and after my partners father used the toilets confirmed that they weren't particularly clean either. Needless to say we were out of there in no time at all.
All in all very dissappointing. However, you need to form your own opinion on this place as I always take comments with a pinch of salt. Having seen it for myself though I am wondering who actually put the wonderful comments up??
