Its now immaculate, so must have had a make over.

Great tourist pub - offering entertainment for kids and typical pub grub.

Three real ales on and my black sheep was immaculate.

Agree with zmills, walked through the door, very musty smell to the place walked straight out to another pub in the village.

For BITErs information, this place has changed hands, in August 2009, I think. Not been in since then myself, but the outside looks a lot cleaner and more inviting and they have put up advertising for special deals. So a change of attitude, I think.

Worth popping in, as the rather dreary reviews below might not be applicable now.

I heard a rumour it might be being run by the Thornbridge Brewery.

I stayed at Chatsworth Caravan Site with my partners parents this weekend and we fancied a pub dinner. As the site is next to Baslow it made sense to go there so I looked on this site for information. The Derbyshire Arms came up as the best one on the list, but this is far from the truth.

We walked in expecting a pub in line with the excellent comments but what we experienced was dissappointing so much so that we walked in one door then quickly out the other!

The carpet was dirty, the place had a musty smell to it. It was 7.45 on a Sunday evening and the only people sat down eating were the staff. The place wasn't inviting and after my partners father used the toilets confirmed that they weren't particularly clean either. Needless to say we were out of there in no time at all.

All in all very dissappointing. However, you need to form your own opinion on this place as I always take comments with a pinch of salt. Having seen it for myself though I am wondering who actually put the wonderful comments up??
