Excellent selection of well-kept ales, including two brewed locally. Very helpful & friendly barstaff.
Weren't serving food till 7pm on a bank holiday Monday which seemed a bit late: four separate parties asked about food while we were there.

Called in on a quiet Saturday afternoon. 3 cask ales on our side of the bar Doom Bar, Fullers HSB & something else were all off, but 2 local Kent brews were on, of which the Caveman was excellent. Great outside area. Would definitely go back if in the area.

The best pub in Dartmouth? It's not for me to say, but yes.

The Bridge House, Tower Bridge
It seems this place is under new management. We went in last night and the 2 barmaids were shutting up at 22:20. Grudgingly we were served, but a big party came in at 22:35 and were refused! Not good.

The Hung, Drawn and Quartered, Tower Hill
It's OK, usual standard Fuller's selection occasionally featuring one of the seasonal ales. Pretty quiet for its location, especially compared to the Draft House & the crazy 'Spoons across the road.

The Crutched Friar, Tower Hill
Always pumping out dreadful dance music, full of braying morons, avoid.

Tourist trap. Better pubs on both the Wapping & Tower bridge sides that don't charge a 30% tourist tax.

Some ringers on here. Must be hard work for the landlord thinking up all those different usernames.

The Faltering Fullback, Finsbury Park
Interesting fact: the decking in the beer garden was modelled on the Ewok village.

This has been called Cape for about a million years now, come on, sort it out.

Birthplace of the legendary "Roofdogs", a blue plaque is rumoured to be going up soon. Another point in its favour: got rid of Fosters.

That photo is out of date, they've changed the colour of the sign from red to blue (yeah I know, why do people have to keep MUCKING ABOUT with things?).

Don't know if someone read my last comment but they had Seafarers on last time I was there, as well as the Pride which as always was well kept. Good stuff.

What on Earth is this "witchhunt" nonsense? I have been on this site for a few years, using it to find decent London pubs and leaving reviews for others to do the same.
The Andover Arms used to be one of the best pubs in West London. Now it very much isn't. As RBKData noticed, if there's a hidden agenda going on here check out the posting histories of some of these recent posters before you decide whose contribution is biased.

It is an absolute disgrace what has happened to this place. The best pub in the area now looks (and sounds, what with the horrible echoey emptiness of the place) like all the other awful gastropubs in the area.
R.I.P. The Andover Arms. A great shame.

A good pub, why have they got so many pumps that are all London Pride though? Get some different ales in.

The only pub in West London we could find that stocked the mythical Fuller's Red Fox. Good stuff.

Now called Gaffney's after it was bought and refurbished by the television actor and Hammersmith lad Dean Gaffney. I can recommend the Magner's.

Ridiculously priced fizz-pop, most miserable and painfully slow bar-staff this side of Earls Court, the atmosphere they seem to be aiming for is "Spanish morgue". Why anyone would go in here when it's a short walk to the Andover Arms, The Salutation or one of the decent pubs by the river remains a mystery.

Was in on Saturday night, the DJ dropped a bit of UB40 'Rat in my kitchen'. Quality. Whether or not it was also a warning about the hygiene standards, I don't know. Certainly one of our party was taken ill, but this may have been the effects of a pint in Horwich earlier in the evening.

Important update : don't go looking for the Ted Danson picture, it's not there, those days are gone.

The Dartmouth Castle, Hammersmith
Someone should tell these people that a sandwich has two pieces of bread.
9 Sep 2006 18:05
Of all the pubs I've been in that have photos of Ted Danson on the wall, this is the best.

One of the best in Horwich. Grab a pint and stick 'Wired For Sound' on the jukebox. Quality.

If you like 70-year old pensioners with broad Bolton accents doing Shaggy's "It wasn't me" on the karaoke, this is your place.

Legendary exception to the first rule of the Horwich pub crawl - "Never stray from the left hand side of the road".
(NB. The first rule of the Horwich pub crawl must be reversed if you decide to start at the bottom of the hill and work up. But if you decide this, you're a bit wrong and deserve everything you get anyway)
Saves you money on cigarettes, as spending five minutes inside makes you feel like you've chain-smoked a pack of twenty. Used to be cheap, now one of the most expensive pubs in Horwich, yet somehow it still has a strange attraction..... Maybe its the Wild Turkey.

The Prospect of Whitby, Wapping
The service in here goes from bad to worse. It doesn't matter whether it's packed or there's only three men and a dog in there, somehow they'll always find a way to make you wait.
