We moved to Hoo two years ago and this was one of the first pubs we went to and had a meal. The food was really nice and reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. Recently though there has been a change in management and the food has gone right downhill. My brother ordered Ham, Egg and Chips and when it came the ham was grey and smelt terrible. He was asked if he wanted another plate of the same meal but by then he had gone right off of the idea of a meal and refused and we got his part of the meal comped, although I must say that I had a dodgy stomach that same night and I had ordered the chicken kiev. Also the staff aren't that great and seem to ignore you most of the time while they flit around trying to look pretty.

The Ship Inn is a nice enough pub. The food is good but more than overpriced. If you are on a budget then this is not the pub for you. The menu features alot of fish dishes which I suppose is due to the fact that they are on the Medway River but they do a decent mixed grill.

My family took my dad here for his birthday last weekend and I have to say that the food is overpriced muck. They do that piling the food up in the middle of the plate rubbish. I had the meditteranean chicken which was dry and tough to chew and I had potato skins for a starter which had clearly been nuked in the microwave. The waitresses have the wrong attitude and are stroppy and rude to customers which did not go down well and so they didn't get a tip. The pub is okay if you want a drink but not good for a meal.

I came here on 18th June as the pub does Pie and Mash on Thursdays with a free pint for 5.95. The pies are proper pie and mash shop pies which the landlord told us came from Goddard's in Deptford. As I used to live in Deptford it was a little slice of my old stomping ground transported to Kent which was great. The service is fantastic and the landlord is always willing to stop and have a chat. The pub is next door to Upnor Castle and it's always worth a walk down the river to get a breath of fresh air and walk off the splendid pie and mash. If you're in the locality on a Thursday go in and ask for double pie and mash and you won't be disappointed.

The Lion Hotel, Farningham
My family and I used to come to this pub when it was a Harvester and we absolutely loved it but not anymore. It was sold off and is now a dump and they don't have near enough the level of customer service that the harvester used to have. It's in a pretty setting by a river and should be heaving with customers but I guess that when the harvester went they took most of the custom too.
