Eccentric pub with some real ale. Infinitely superior to the nearby Sun but not quite as good as Rose and Crown.

Many years ago (1970s) this was a decent local boozer
- arrggh! There are, however, two other options adjacent and one of them, the Rose and Crown, is pretty much a proper pub.

The Alma Tavern, Wandsworth Town
Baffled by comment that it has gone down hill since Youngs took over, it has been in the estate since 1866! Became too much of a foodie place for my liking so change may be for the better.

Beer garden running down to Wandle a great asset waht was once a fine Victorian gin palace has been knocked around a bit by the brewery. Some of the best and cheapest Ordinary locally.

Gone upmarket since days as Two Brewers and is perhaps a little souless now. One of the many monuments to Youngs in the area. Don't know about the Guinness but the the local beer is generally in good nick and not exorbitant (though some others nearby are a bit cheaper). Worth trying.

Closest to a proper local out of the one way system pubs. As the other comments say, friendly and traditional with fine beer.

The Pilchard Inn, Burgh Island
Worth the walk if not the price of the sea tractor. When we went the children were welcome in the lower bar but may be different in peak season. Beer and food Good.

The Artful Dodger, Kingston Upon Thames
A proper pub and as the landlord drinks real ale there is often and interesting guest available from Downton

Best avoided, it has ended up with some of the worst characters from the nearby Royal Borough Arms (now a agastrobar called the Pottery and serving Ballards. Beer quality poor to mediocre.

The management has changed yet again (there have been 9 managers in 4 years). It has a rather unloved feel to it nowadays though the staff do try. Hopefully the refurbishment in the New Year will be done tastefully and the brewery will back a new team over a prolonged period.

The Journeys End Inn, Ringmore
Hugely improved since new owner arrived this summer with interesting range of micros on gravity from local brewers though not the cider it did back in 2004. Beer Festival this weekend (6-8 October). Good food and friendly though slightlt eccentric American landlord.

The Rose and Crown, Clapham
Best of the three establishments around the bus stand. Good beer and feels like a proper pub.
