The Duke of Wellington, Lichfield
This is effectively our local and my Dad, a real ale enthusiast, informs me that their beer is good stuff, well kept and served.
It's pretty much got most things you could ask for in a traditional pub from our experience.
Friendly place, quite small inside but with a (fairly basic but reasonable) garden out back to sit with kids and dogs.
Not in the centre of Lichfield but only two minutes out and well worth a visit.
One of the best in Lichfield.

Although it is an Ember Inn, and some feel chain pubs lack distinction, it's generally friendly and the staff have always been helpful and know their stock.
Spacious for sitting outside on a sunny day, although being effectively a huge traffic island isn't perfect, but you don't notice that as much as you'd think on the whole.
Reliable standard.

The Horse and Jockey, Lichfield
As a native of Lichfield I was so disappointed when we took mates to visit the Horse and Jockey. We've never been in before but have walked past, what is a great looking little place, a lot and it has got great reviews on here. The barmaid was down right rude and we felt a nuisance ordering drinks. They used plastic glasses too, my Guinness drinking mate was nearly in tears!!
Giving the benefit of the doubt it could be because it was Bower day, very busy and she may have been a casual.
Not a wide selection of drinks though.
With such a great choice of pubs to choose from I don't think we'll be back. Shame really. :(

The Gatehouse, Lichfield
Strange old place; on the plus side very cheap drinks and quick service. We ate there once and it was standard fayre but okay.
The negatives are tatty decor and a bit mucky last time we were in, not sure if that was pre or post decoration mentioned above.
It seems such a waste of potential given it's central location.
