The Coundon Hotel, Coundon

Been going in here for nearly 35 years. Has plus points: friendly people and staff; good furnishings and a nice atmosphere. The negatives are that the beer can be very hit and miss; the food is sometimes inedible esp if the Chief Microwaver "Mr Dead" is working and has its share of chav's. Can only rate a 5/10 when far better selection and quality of beers are available within walking distance at the Holyhead (6/10), the Gatehouse (8/10) and the Town Wall Tavern (9/10).

Best pub in Coventry by some way. Just down from the Gatehouse (another goodie for real ale fans) and serving really good pub grub and serving some fantastic ales. The Adnams Broadside is one of the best pints I have ever tried although the locals swear by the Bass. Give it a go; you won't be disappointed.

One of the best (but also most expensive) places to drink foreign bottled beer in Coventry. was in top 100 bars in the UK in The Independent. Great crowd but no draught ales.

The Grapes Hotel, Coventry

Beer (Guinness and lager, not real ales) and service is usually fantastic but nothing else is. The toilets are a chemical health hazard and the cliental are all chavvy coke heads and/or alcys. The home produced food smells (I have never seen anyone eat there) like a sewage farm on fire. For Guiness/lager/coke loving locals only.

Browns Cafe Bar, Coventry

What can you say about this place? The worst food imaginable if you gain entry past a self hating racist Asian bouncer who allows no black people in; a po faced manager/owner who would turn your beer sour if he looked at it and a woman, (apprently the owners daughter), who is so angry and ugly she would bar herself if she tried to enter the place. This place is regarded as a laughing stock by the people of Coventry who know about its racist/chauvanistic polices and avaoid it at all costs.
