The London Apprentice, Old Isleworth
really you should go to this pub. it is a wonderful, wonderful location, on a peninsula opposite kew gardens (you can cross the river by boat in summer) - probably one of the nicest locations in the whole of london.
the pub itself is quite old, but has become sadly just a bit too touristy; the experience lacks genuineness and basic quality.
but what a place. see the birds swoop obver the iyot. watch overblown rich tourists come back to find their car four feet underwater. extraordinary.

The White House, Stockley Park
good place - more nice pubs should invest round here.

Paddington Packet Boat, Uxbridge
continues to be good.
always great bar staff whenever i've been in. i can't wait for the smoking ban to come in mind!
28 Mar 2007 17:56
Must say, it has got much better lately. The landlord to be commended in getting rid of the nutters.
28 Mar 2007 17:51
now closed. hope it reopens as something good. it is a lovely location and there is a huge market for a good pub locally.
28 Mar 2007 17:50
grim pub in all senses. takes ages to get served, its utterly complacent, the beer is rubbish, i've seen mice and rats in there, its full of soul sapping people. i'd rather cut off my own toes than spend an evening in here.
13 Sep 2006 13:46
its not bad really. very london, and its worth a look once. gets a bit busy mind, and its only a small pub for so many folk (overly busy for what it is really). comedy thing upstairs is ok too.
11 Sep 2006 13:16
its big and it bustles of a weekend. very quiet otherwise. dark, a bit dingy, and utterky towny.
6 Sep 2006 13:06
i never really took to this place. feeling of edge to it, not very good beer, just a bit of a waste of time.
6 Sep 2006 13:01
i've watched footie here a couple of times and its indeed a local pub, but i didnt think it was unfriendly at all - just a working class pub, which might be the root of the issue with some of those who have opined on the pub.
that said, i've been in better pubs, like.
4 Sep 2006 12:00
this is just a mad pub, and is definitely worth going to once. packed full of mad mid 70s london b list memorabilia. nice atmos tho, and you can always sit outside in some quite unusal seats.
25 Aug 2006 15:12
its not bad.
a bit prissy and posh for what it actually is, but the beers are good and if you dont go on a night when it is heaving, it is not bad.
agree it takes too long to get served mind.
25 Aug 2006 15:10
This is a youth pub and has the occassional visit from the garrison. I watched England beat Holland 4-0 here in Euro 96 and I had one of the best nights of my entire life. But you dont get that every night, obviously.

The Nell Gwynne, Covent Garden
this is an ace pub. have had many good hours in here. good jukebox, frienly people, always has a buzz. and it has history. its great.
11 Aug 2006 14:16
The Sherlock Holmes, Charing Cross
tourist trap, but has a bit of very distant charm if you are in about 10pm.
11 Aug 2006 14:14
Walkers of Whitehall, Whitehall
has got a lot lot better after refit. its even quite good sometimes now.
11 Aug 2006 14:12
The Lord Moon Of The Mall, Whitehall
not great, but if you like looking at the post-middle aged, lazy fatsos of whitehall then this is your place. grim.
good beers on though. and an interesting experiemnt - have 7 pints of stella, go to the gents and try to find your way out of the place. its like trying to get out of a secret library from scooby doo.
11 Aug 2006 14:11
we call this pub the crack den, but that probably makes it sound interesting.
its just a really rubbish, badly maintained, overpriced (i paid 6:80 for 1x pint of san miguel and a bud last night). rubbish decoration, barflies, unfriendly. you name it this pub has it.
11 Aug 2006 14:08
not bad at all for an oneills. always has something going on and a bit of a buzz.

Waxy's Little Sister, Piccadilly Circus
i like this one - upstairs is great; not often do you get drinks winched up to you. great views.
27 Jun 2006 13:59
the restaurant is good; but dont go just for a pint as there's no room.
2 Jun 2006 13:24
i used to really love this pub, but like it a bit less these days. its got a fantastic range of lagers and its just a bit out of the main camden drag.
2 Jun 2006 13:23
i think its extremely good for a posh wetherspoon. best one i've ever been to. people are always nice, and its lovely in the summer. clean, nice food, beer is well kept. and its right on the social bit of the canal so there's loads going on. its pretty good really.
2 Jun 2006 13:21
i had some fantastic nights here. really ace. lively and good fun.
1 Jun 2006 17:51
so so pub but ace location. service not great but on a sunny day with a load of friends on a halcyoned summers day...
1 Jun 2006 16:55
not a bad little music venue - the acts are better than the place itself, but its a pretty good place nonetheless.
1 Jun 2006 15:38
This used to be a really cool place (aprtly due to the assocation with its owners), but I somehow never really enjoyed going out there. Havent been for a long time but hope to try it again soon.
1 Jun 2006 14:12
was always ok - freindly enough, quite towny. my pal nearly knocked a fruit machine over in here somehow.
1 Jun 2006 14:07
Legendary late bar when there were no late bars in town. Used to go a lot for post 11pm drinks. Was always busy but always an interesting lively and generally decent place.
Was in there the night that St Etienne decided to do a dodgy christmas single with Tim Burgess out of the Charlatans.
1 Jun 2006 14:06
Shoulder of Mutton, Middleton Tyas
its not bad. bit middle class and such, but nice food.
29 Mar 2006 13:45
The Queens Head and Artichoke, Regents Park
nice bar - this used to be a really mental old pub with chelsea nutters and old drunken blokes dancing to elvis on the jukebox. i used to be quite fond of it as it was.
the new version is nice though - the food is really good and nice beer and very nice people.
1 Dec 2004 12:22
i wont mourn the passing of this pub, but its a nice hangout for miserable old gets. its not utterly without merit, but its pretty close.
1 Dec 2004 12:16
classic boozer steeped in britpop history. magic. not everyone's bag, but i have always loved it.

Corbieres Wine Cavern, Manchester
it is fantastic. great jukebox, terrific drinks. i had a couple of my favourite ever nights here. its terrific.
26 Aug 2004 15:06
a great, great pub, and my local when at college. a great mix of people, great beer, old bar billiards, pork scratchings and used to have a wonderful 60s jukebox.
26 Aug 2004 15:04
lively pub. very big, but had a slight edge to it the day i was in. that might have been a one off - everyone else in their seemed ok.
26 Aug 2004 14:55
i'm not gay but went here one afternoon in the summer, and has a beautifully kept bar with lovely gardens. the beer was good too.
26 Aug 2004 14:53
this is a lovely place. its not really a boozer, more a fairly formulaic food chain (though it ISNT a harvester). its right on the canal - and really lovely in the summer. if you want to take your family out for a pub meal, and dont want pikey intervention, this is your place. food v good.
26 Aug 2004 14:40
nice old place - a warm fire in the bleakest of spots. its lovely in the summer and welcoming in the snow in the winter. good ales (fantastic whiskey selection).
12 Jul 2004 15:39
this is the best pub in the world. lovely lovely old pub. dickens would have had a few here.
12 Jul 2004 15:26
this is a nice old fashioned pub. friendly inside and you could imagine the blitz here. its great (once in a while).
12 Jul 2004 14:56
this pub is ok. bit boring. not that friendly - but it aint the bronx.
12 Jul 2004 14:46
I dont liek the front bar, but I have had fun in the huge backroom, which never seems to close. Which bumps up the pub's rating by miles.
12 Jul 2004 14:40
great bar and lovely beer garden. used to spend many lovely evenings there. halcyon memories..
30 Jun 2004 12:49
good pub. used to be a dirty old man's house. now its a boozer with top beers - its a bloke's drinking pub, but a great place. unusual.
30 Jun 2004 12:47
magic place. yes, its touristy. so what! its a unique place, and there's nothing like it in london.
30 Jun 2004 12:45
fabulous historical dutch pub. great beers, great staff, great elegant bar. its fantastic. one of my favourite in london.
30 Jun 2004 12:44
This is v good. Camberwell used to have awful pubs, but this was a godsend when it openend. Try this and funkymunky before going to redstar. Nice crowd. Nice looking bar. Nice beer, screen, posh olives etc. Its great for camberwell. Top marks.
30 Jun 2004 12:24
Not a great pu=b in itself but it has a good crowd in here and its lively and fun. so i like it.
30 Jun 2004 12:13
i used to play football here. irish boozer. its ok. not exactly a pub full of light and young things.
30 Jun 2004 11:48
The Albany, Great Portland Street
Like it.
Much better after the refit. Worth going in if you are near.
30 Jun 2004 11:33
Not much going for it. Rude barstaff. Smoky horrible carvery thing. Characterless.
30 Jun 2004 11:04
used to be ace. now not quite so good (the old jukebox selection was smart). but still ok. lively.
30 Jun 2004 11:00
wonderful wonderful pub. history pours from it. you can sit and look over the thames. one of my fave's from the whole of london.
10 Jun 2004 15:03
good bar - jsut what acton has needed for years. go there, its cool.
10 Jun 2004 15:01
The Red Lion and Pineapple, Acton
one of the better standard wetherspoons. plenty of nice talkative people - probably as its over the road from the redback (a massive aussie bar). nice and light. you can also sit outside. its an ok place.
10 Jun 2004 15:00
Paddington Packet Boat, Uxbridge
good pub. nice friendly bar staff. nice beer. quiz machine. nice enough pub nosh. can walk to it up the canal - its good. better than most of the others nearby.
10 Jun 2004 14:46
The Bricklayers Arms, Fitzrovia
really like this pub. its great. cheap beer. lovely drinks. v nice upstairs. nice people. bags of character. its a great sam smith.
13 Apr 2004 13:06
The Chandos, Trafalgar Square
this is a busy pub because of its tremendous location next to the national gallery and trafalgar square. it is quite good upstairs, but the pub, really, is a pub to visit when it is quiet. the character comes through then. otherwise it can be even quite annoying. usual sam smith's london establishement so beer good, cheap etc.
