No idea why everyone keeps going on about the price of food here, as I was more than happy to visit repeatedly on a trip to Noss Mayo in February of this year. I only tried one beer, the very locally made Church Ledge, which I liked so much that I never tried anything else. Where we stayed meant that we had to walk past the Swan to get to the Ship and the former was always shut or completely empty and the latter full and bustling, even in February.

Popped in for a quick pint and loved the pokey interior. I was itching to explore upstairs, but didn't bother in the end. Will definitely re-visit if I'm ever in Dartmouth again.

The Floating Bridge Inn, Dartmouth
Had a couple of pints here before catching the nearby ferry across the river. Prices were a little on the high side, but the beer was good, as was the service.

The Weary Ploughman Inn, Churston Ferrers
Walked a couple of miles to this place on the recommendation of the welcome pack in the place we were staying, only to find it's really a poncy restaurant, not a pub and a big sign on the door saying no dogs allowed. As there were 5 of us, but I wasn't especially hungry, I offered to walk back with the dogs and let the other 4 eat. The fact that no-one was bothered about going back later in the week told me all I needed to know.

Average food, expensive beer. Always seemed busy, though,so they must be doing something right...

Dingy, overpriced and usually full of jobless people and their kids during the day. Better in the evenings, but only just.

Pub's fine, but food varies from delicious to dire. My wife says she'll never eat there again after our last visit!

No less than a 10 from us. Excellent cider, great view, brilliant food and top service including our dogs getting some free sausages!

Currently undergoing a major refurbishment, but the bar is open from 5pm, probably after the builders have gone home. No restaurant yet. Did pop in once, but the strong smell of paint was off-putting so I never stayed. Will reserve a rating until it's properly open, but I've heard murmurings that the prices are rather high...

Don't remember there being a lot of choice at the small bar, but the food is great. Pub looks good inside and out, but there ain't a lot of parking if you're in a car. Recommended.

Really like this one. There's usually at least 3 ales on tap that staff are happy to let you sample before purchase. They also have a good cider collection. Place is super friendly and locals will happily chat with occasional visitors like myself. Always tell myself after a visit that I should go more often!

The Angel Inn, Upton Scudamore
Used to walk here when it was more like a pub and had a bar, but it is basically a restaurant now with a tiny bar downstairs. Were made to feel very unwelcome at 17:58 the last time we visited. We were told the place didn't open until 6pm and when I replied that it was 2 minutes to 6, we were rudely told "not by my watch it isn't, I make it quarter to!" by the up himself bar manager.
As we'd walked some miles to get there, we had an awkward meal, served by the same fella, on a tiny table by the tiny bar (we weren't allowed to sit anywhere else because of our dog) and then left never to return. People who live in Upton Scudamore must be very disappointed by their local...

Just OK. They have one ale plus an ever changing guest beer with a blackboard announcing what will be replacing it next. I find the place a little cliquey, as it has an awful lot of regulars that will happily ignore anyone irregular just having a pint. Probably much better if you go in every day like they do...?

Awful place. Full of youngsters getting pie-eyed. Everyone in there has to shout to be heard over the deafening music. Can't say what the drinks are like as I couldn't get served at the bar by the bar staff who were too busy serving other punters over my shoulder due to them being the right age (i.e. under 30).

Not sure all the reviews below are for the pub in Fowey or the one with the same name across the bay in Polruan? I've been in the Fowey one recently, but only had a single pint of St Austell Trelawney, as I had to drive later on. Nice enough pint, but the burger and chips I had with it was rather average. The missus had what she described as a delicious crab sandwich and I must say it had an awful lot of crabmeat spilling out of it! Friendly enough atmosphere, but it was a rather quiet November weekday, so may not be typical.

Walked here one wet and windy day along the coastal path a few weeks back. Pub was reasonably quiet, just a few customers having lunch, which we also did. Had a lovely plate of ham, egg and chips and a nice pint or two (can't remember what I had, but it would've been a St Austell ale, as not much else is available in the area). Food good, beer good, no complaints. One word of warning is that the pub shuts between lunchtime and evening sessions, so a late afternoon visit may prove rather disappointing. Eclectic little gift shop next door whiles away a few minutes, too.

Paid a couple of visits to this great little pub a few weeks back. Had a great fish and chip supper on the second visit. Beer choice is small, but well kept and my wife said her glass of wine was very good, too. Friendly locals in the bar happy to give out visitor advice to us grockles!

Made a brief visit after a long walk with my dogs around Southwick Park nearby. Had lager as it was a warm day and I fancied a cold drink. They charged me over 3 for a sour pint of Becks Vier BEFORE informing me that dogs weren't allowed in the pub (I was the only customer) and that I'd have to drink it outside. Won't be going back in a hurry.

The Dolphin, Newton Ferrers
Slithered precariously across the very slippery causeway (the Voss) a couple of times from Noss Mayo to visit this great little boozer. Food looked and smelled good, even though I never ate and the beer looked good, too, but I drank cider the times I went in. Doesn't look all that from the outside (my wife took some persuading to get her in the door!), but it has a warm and friendly interior.
