The White Horse, Brighton

Great roast dinners at a great price. That is all.

The Blackfriar, Blackfriars

This pub seems to me to be an enigma. The building is amazing, very atmospheric, the beer was good on my visit last night, Landlord was in good (but not amazing condition), the food which I am yet to sample look good on the plate and on the menu. I will go back and sample the meat platter at some points.

The letdowns with this pub were the staff, very slow and rude on the whole, though not all. And the atmosphere was very loud and city boy blah.

The Ship and Shovell, Charing Cross

Will always hold a place in my heart as it is where I watched England win the Ashes in 2005. A gem in that it has Hall and Woodhouse beers. On the downside it is pricey.

Boadicea, Charing Cross Station

Awful, awful, awful like 95% of pubs in station in the UK

The Princess Louise, Holborn

I went in here for the first time in ages a couple of weeks ago. I'd forgotten what a cracking place it was, and it is a revelation considering it awful location (as far as being full with tourists that is, my pet hate in London pubs)

The Cock, Oxford Circus

Sam Smith's pub in London. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Well kept Old Brewery and a good quiz machine, who needs anything more.

The Triple Crown Inn, Richmond

Great pub, with a fantastic pint.

Walkers of Whitehall, Whitehall

As I "useless" civil servant, I'm still inclined to agree. Have only been once and it was a very expensive pint squashed into to a downstairs bar full of fellow civil servants

23 Jan 2008 11:59

The Lord Moon Of The Mall, Whitehall

It's a Wetherspoons, what you see is what you get.

23 Jan 2008 11:54

The Silver Cross, Whitehall

Vast Charmless tourist pub, the worst thing about working on Whitehall is all the tourist clogging up what could be decent pubs.

23 Jan 2008 11:53

The Earl of Camden, Camden

Handy for Camden, has Deuchers IPA, ok to watch football in, that's about it.

The Druids Head, Brighton

Went into this pub on Saturday as part of a weekend away. Having no knowledge of how the pub previously looked I was quiet pleased with what I saw. We sat on a large table towards the back, underneath a unobtrusive TV screen with Soccer Saturday on, which was a bonus.

They has a Harvey's on pump which was well kept and delicious as always. The real star in my opinion though was the food, we were accompanied by two vegetarians who were impressed by both the food and the variety of choice. My wife say her burger was delicious and I opted for the special of chicken and bacon pie. I must say it was one of the most delicious pies I have had in a long time and was reasonably priced too. Thumbs up from me.

The Pineapple, Kentish Town

First visit last week for an away fixture in our quiz league. Nice pub, great decor, really nice job done on the decor. Understand the point about the bar staff, they weren't friendly or unfriendly, just a little uninterested.

A minor point though when the Adnam's was in such great condition and a reasonable price (for London)

The Water Witch, Lancaster

I do hope this pub isn't sold off. In my early days at uni (2001-2004) it was the best pub in Lancaster by a country mile. It served it's own beer (Witches water - lager and Witches brew - bitter) for 1 and 1.10 respectively. It then had a refit and the prices went up and their own brewed beer stopped but it remained a great pub. To turn it into a trendy bar would be a shame.

The Jolly Sailors Inn, Whitby

Re:steve2905

I couldn't comment on the gammon as I had the mixed grill but my girlfriend said it was the nicest she had ever had. I'm afraid I only like gammon in small quantities, the mixed grill, however, was superb.

I beleive the girlfriend previous experience of gammon in a pub was from Wetherspoons and having worked in a Wetherspoons kitchen for 2 years, I can vouch for her having probably only had bad gammon.

I think it's a shame you won't visit again, I certainly will.

The Nightingale, Wanstead

A very nice pub which was used on a local pub crawl for one fairly swift drink but was the kind of place I would like to return to for a longer visit.

24 Sep 2007 12:05

The Sheepwalk, Leytonstone

I was told good things about this place but when I visited I was very disappointed. Poor ber choice and a few hostile locals.

24 Sep 2007 12:04

The North Star, Leytonstone

Nice pub with good beer, but when myself and my friend visited the music was so loud we had to leave. It was impossible to talk. Not what I expect for a back street boozer

24 Sep 2007 12:03

The One Tun, Farringdon

I like this pub. I was very suprised to find Greene King IPA for 2.60

24 Sep 2007 12:01

The Blue Posts, Piccadilly

Great pub. Not sure how I had managed to not go here before.

Went for a couple of pints on a friends birthday, Timothy Taylor Landlord available. Perfectly kept and at a very reasonable price. Also had a salad for my tea, delicious but a little pricey.

24 Sep 2007 11:57

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

Always full of people, mostly tourists. Expensive as it is in Covent Garden but the sheer choice of beer redeems it

24 Sep 2007 11:53

Golden Lion, Soho

Seemingly the only pub in Soho to show football. Returned to this pub after a few months to watch the football as the pub we planned to watch it in had the rugby on.

Beer is average and expensive but this is Soho but I will return here simply for the football.

24 Sep 2007 11:52

The Edgar Wallace, Temple

Most pubs in the city and surrounding areas are shut on Saturdays

24 Sep 2007 11:44

The John O'Gaunt, Lancaster

Was the best pub in Lancaster when I was at uni 2001-2004 and I would guess it still is.

15 Aug 2007 14:52

The Jolly Sailors Inn, Whitby

Popped in here for lunch on a visit to Whitby whilst visiting family in Scarborough last Thursday (9th August). Never been in before but I am a regular visitor to Sam Smith's pubs in London.

Myself and my fiancee had lunch which we both declared were the tastiest well cooked Mixed Grill and Gammon Steak we had ever tried. Very many compliments to the chef.

It was washed down with two pints of perfectly kept and pulled pints of Old Brewery. The staff were very polite and all in all it was a excellent visit. I would recommend the pub to anyone in the area and I will definitely visit again. The pub is a credit to the Sam Smith's brewery

15 Aug 2007 13:54

The Old Kings Head, Borough

Popped in here on a friends birthday night a couple of weeks back. Had two cracking pints of ale. Great atmosphere.

15 Aug 2007 13:49

The Purple Turtle, Camden

I go to a club here once a month and I like the place.

One complaint would be the bar staff, they have no idea when it comes to knowing which customers is next (a crucial trait all bar staff need). On many occassion I have waited and seen people served who have just got to the bar. And no I don't stand there like a numpty, I do everything in my power to get myself noticed over the din of the music but the staff are just clueless.

15 Aug 2007 13:43

The Red Lion, Westminster

Great pub for me, over the road from work and has Greene King IPA. Have had many a lunchtime pint in here.

2 Feb 2007 10:55

The Priory Arms, Stockwell

Was here on Tues for my quiz league game. Was pleased to see Landlord available as I seem to find it short supply in London.

Good atmosphere and well kept beer, only shame is that it was the last time our quiz team would be visiting.

2 Feb 2007 10:52

The Three Mariners, Lancaster

Possibly my favourite pub in the world.

Went to uni in Lancaster, spent many hapy evenings in this pub.

I will be sure to visit again next time I am in town.

10 Oct 2006 16:04

The Pickwick Inn, Scarborough

I like this pub, despite the obvious reason not to like it. The clientele is shady at best, downright awful at worst (except for my lot), the decor is tired, the quiz machine always robs us (it often gives out one coin too few in winnings), the bar staff are mostly useless, yet every time I go back to Scarborough I spend at least part of every evening here. It's been my local in Scarborough for many years and it always will be..

10 Oct 2006 16:02

The Commercial, Scarborough

Nice pub, clientele can be slightly intimidating at times. good beer garden and great ales.

2 Nov 2005 16:36

The Castle Tavern, Scarborough

Average

2 Nov 2005 16:35

The Black Lion, Scarborough

Only been in once, that was enough

2 Nov 2005 16:35

The Angel Inn, Scarborough

Used to frequent this pub a lot when Carol and Albert ran it, great quiz on a Sunday and the beer was quite passable.

2 Nov 2005 16:34

The Alma Inn, Scarborough

Absolutely my favourite pub in Scarborough, the beer is always great, food is wonderful and the atmosphere almost too friendly

2 Nov 2005 16:33

The Albion, Scarborough

Has gone downhill, since my friends parents sold it 10 years ago, but still a nice enough place.

2 Nov 2005 16:32

The Aberdeen Hotel, Scarborough

Average, Crap beer, not much atmosphere unles Danny Wilde is on (not a good thing) Good for watching football in though!

2 Nov 2005 16:30

The Good Mixer, Camden

I love this place. Nuff said

2 Nov 2005 16:25

The Harp, Covent Garden

Had a great pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord here last night. It is near to my work so is often frequented for a after work drink.

2 Nov 2005 16:23

The Calthorpe Arms, Holborn

This is the pub where my quiz team plays its home fixtures. It's a great little pub with Young's always in great condition. A very friendly place
