Fantastic, and I mean fantastic, food, though pricey - you need to book in the evenings, and you'd be hard pushed to just pop in for a pint (perhaps during the day). Various well-kept offerings from Black Sheep (ordinary and Rigwelter), but the food's the main deal here, for which it's thoroughly reccomended

Friendly victorian-style boozer up the hill in Durham; three seperate bars (Front, back and snug) around central bar area - ever changing, impeccably kept beers, principally from the north east (Mordue, Workie Ticket, Big Lamp). Closed between 3-6 in the afternoon, but well worth the wait for that early evening pint!

Fantastic village pub, at the heart of village life. Excellent, well kept beers (6 on at all times). Cheap and cheerful B&B accomodation available over the pub, together with some classier rooms - a converted signal box and station masters office! Standard pub fair available. Bit shabby round the edges, but that's what I like in a pub - very friendly staff and locals.
