Once upon a time it was the Old Tradition. Spit n sawdust, but a decent place.

Travellers Rest, Harrogate

Stone floors, oak beams, usually one or two real ales on offer. Lovely beer garden overlooking the Crimple Valley, and the staff are quite friendly.

Muckles, Harrogate

The previous (wholly impartial, I'm sure) reviewer comments that "Muckles will exceed your expectaions". I'm sure this is true, as most Harrogate dwellers would have zero-level expectations of the place. If you want to drink Fosters, watch Sky Sports and have blaring music pumped out at you then this is probably the place for you. But then three-quarters of town pubs give you much the same experience.
