This pub really does seemed to be doomed, STILL cannot really get in the door! The permanent mob of smokers are still blocking everything. Without a doubt the most off putting pub ever.

The King William Inn, Glastonbury
Still definitely one of the better pubs, both good for sitting inside and outside, and the prices are as good as possible here. Both excellent landlady and young manager guy.

Having been away for 2 years, I was saddened to find the landlord to be so unwell. I found the landlady to be coping incredibly well however. great pub for sitting in that lovely big window watching the street go by. VERY expensive prices though.

I was a bit stunned though to see the same old geezers in their designated seats sipping one coffee for a few hours. Poor service inside, but still good for sitting outside watching all the buskers and assorted characters.

The George and Pilgrim, Glastonbury
Very disappointed, definitely a run down back street feel to the whole place. There seemed to be plenty of the lesser desirable types in there on my return. I was definitely not comfortable in there, and couldn't wait to leave.

Well I quite like it here, it's a lot better here now than its' been for a long time, but I must say that the landlord is certainly no food or drink expert. He thinks he is, but he isn't. ""Tesco's reduced label still stuck to the back of the fish"" This would be funny if it wasn't so awful, was it really still on the fish? Pity, because the chef is actually a very nice and competent chap. Try and blame the landlord instead, and have another go.

A massive fight outside on Friday night. No change then, and to be avoided at all costs.

Ah, we have another new management. So far, so good. They answer the phone instantly, and they actually serve! Good luck!

I'm speechless at the demise of this place. The "management" do NOTHING. I mean NOTHING at all, and now there is no food (again). Ringing them to enquire about anything at all is pointless, as no one has answered my calls on the last FIVE occasions.

Oh no, a change for the worse I think. The banned are back in town.

I forgot to mention the reintroduction of some live music in here again, mainly on Sundays around 8pm. The quality of the music quite honestly is stunning! I can't imagine anyone disagreeing with that!

Love the arrival of the suit of Armour! I cannot remember what pub I was in the other day, but the ale really was cold, and I seriously did NOT enjoy it. Ice cold bitter/ale is definitely not good. However having now drank in the George and Pilgrim recently, all I can say is maybe the ale was cold, but It seems just right to me, perfect in fact. I see there are new managers (again), they seem OK, although one hardly ever sees them. Having witnessed food being served, it looked unusually good., and the bar staff seem MUCH better than last time I was in there. I do wish managers, staff etc would somehow persuade smokers to stay out of the doorway.

You're right. The prices in here are the opposite of the prices in the Riflemans. Also, Unfortunately I have to say that I have now seen a hint of the other side of the distinctive Brigid.
19 Mar 2011 18:28
Yes, it's OK in here. The distinctive Brigid is alright, I feel she could have, "another" side to her, but I haven't experienced it. I must admit, I feel a bit uneasy if John is going to serve me, no offence intended whatsoever. The beer is exceptionally good, as is the cleanliness of the whole pub. One super bonus is the invite to bring in your own food. Instead of the usual dodgy pub food, you can bring anything from your own kitchen to anything from, let's say, the Truckle of cheese which is just yards down the road.

I still like it here, great prices compared to everywhere else. The sandwiches, rolls etc are really good and handy when one is potholer sodden. The music seems a bit weary these days, the bass lady is very nice, and good enough at her job, but she looks a bit like a cardboard cut out which bores me to death. The "main" man who plays drums and guitar I think is excellent in every way. He's seriously talented I think, and has an amazing smile that contributes a real lot to the whole thing. Oh, the music's OK, you know, just seems a bit drab, but at least we've GOT some live music ! See you Sunday at 5.

Not good really, the main front door is constantly clogged with smokers that are often reluctant to move for you. Once in, it is no better really. You often seem to have to sort of, "work" at getting served. The female bar staff seem unable to tear themselves away from the increasingly yobbish regulars that dominate the bar. The tables are virtually never clean, they are often still littered with food long after people have eaten. I actually witnessed a customer asking for a cloth to wipe the table themselves, even then the staff just carried on gossiping with this bunch of loutish older men.

Finally entered this place, no way. Bit nervous to comment further, some of the below strikes me as a bit threatening.

Bit disappointed with most of the bar staff. The new girl seems useless, blatantly reluctant to serve or in fact do anything. As for the new long haired scruffy young guy, nightmare, for a start he acts as though he owns the place. He seems constantly absent from the bar, and when he is behind it, he seems to find anything to do apart from actually serve. However the very nice looking slightly older girl who's been there for a good while still seems as efficient, competent, and nice as ever.

Yes, I felt that I had wasted a few quid by going in here. Dreary and chips.

Definitely OK. Love the "Pothole". Live music was made even more live with the very charismatic "Blind Lips" Malcom !

I found this pub was very quiet. A couple of guys whispering in my general direction.

I feel really quite dissapointed with todays pubs. This one is about the best I've been in so far.

Good ale, and the pub is spotlessly clean. So empty though.

Hmmmmm, empty pub apart from 3 women gossiping in the hallway. and one man glued to its iphone, I waited for about 5 seconds and left. Pity and a bit odd, I normally like this pub, will try once more soon.
