The Queen's Head, Dogmersfield

Great Food, Good Service. My wife and I will be returning.

De Havilland Arms, Elvetham Heath

Although this pub/"restaurant" advertises itself as family friendly, it is anything but.

The staff are, without exception, rude and unfriendly. The prices are high and the service is non-existent.

The bar staff are slow at best. We will not be returning. They think they have a captive audience being within walking distance of so many houses and this is why they have any business at all, although more and more people seem to be voting with their feet and even on sunny afternoons the garden is virtually empty.

The bar staff insist on having both external doors to the garden open at all times so children can run into the pub, straight through and out onto the road. If you ask nicely if one of the doors can be shut they say yes, only to open it again 5 minutes later.

The Exchequer, Crookham Village

I am surprised to see all the poor reviews on here. I have dined at the George and Lobster regularly over the past few years and although standards did slip a bit they seem to have re-gained their original excellence.

I dined there last night with my wife. I had the roasted seabass with cherry tomatoes which was lovely. My wife had poached salmon with fresh hollandaise sauce which she thoroughly enjoyed.

The service was friendly and prompt.

We were sitting at the bar after our meal and chatting to the barman who told us they have got the original head chef back, who worked there when this pub/restaurant was in its heyday. My personal view is that if you have had a poor experience it may well be worth another try. We will certainly be returning.
