Such a shame - lovely little pub and new staff/management seem lovely. However, the couple of times I've braved it, most of the drinkers have been truly scary and I had to run away after one drink

Friendly bar staff, pleasant enough pub for a quiet and comfortable drink.

The Hand In Hand, Wimbledon Common
Lovely little pub for a quiet drink with good food. Although came in here with excellent company, so may have made me biased somewhat

The Fighting Cocks, Kingston Upon Thames
Top pub. Full of interesting people, great live bands, some lethal drinks and a very relaxing atmosphere. have had some excellent, and very messy, evenings here.
Delightfully chav-free

One of the best pubs for the area - usually a little more chilled and less crowded. Does very much feel like the dutch brown cafes, and usually has a good selection of dutch folks and lowland beers.

A thoroughly successful refurb.
I occasionally went to this pub in it's previous incarnations and enjoyed a bit of spit and sawdust fun. However, the new look is very clean, tasteful and stylish, the food is great, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The drinks menu is also superb and has something for everyone. A feast of good flavour all round.
The only downside is jazz on saturdays. Call me a philistine, but I just can't stomach jazz on a saturday night - not when I'm trying to enjoy myself. Why not sundays (when I can't hear it)?

Bishop Out Of Residence, Kingston Upon Thames
This pub very much depends on the time that you visit.
As with almost everywhere else in Kingston on Friday and Saturday nights in clement weather, it is full of ar5es.
However, the staff are some of the best I've come across in the area, and the food is actually very good for a pub. If you pick the right time, this can be a real gem.
Infinitely better than it was before the current management. Mind you, I remember it when I was somewhat younger and it was a real ropey venue (too cruddy even for my tastes) full of teenagers - I was one of the older ones at 16!
Can recommend trying this out for a nice long lunch, whilst the chavs are still at school/college.

The Grove Tavern, South Wimbledon
Had a very interesting visit last year. Visited with a couple of celtic fans to watch an old firm game and kept my mouth (complete with London accent) very firmly shut. A mostly republican contingent, some of whom, once fuelled by ale, launched into some charming IRA songs. Not rushing back myself, but some may enjoy...

Our office has just moved nearby, so tried out this haunt for the first time on Friday. Very small, but very cosy and stylish. A delightful little find for an intimate lunch or evening, and the manager/owner and staff are wonderfully hospitable.
Charming.

O'Neills, Kingston Upon Thames
Fine if you want a loud night out drinking heavily and dancing badly. A great laugh with the right company, few teens, and rarely any trouble. everything will end up covered in beer, your wallet will be empty, and you will have a stinking hangover the next day, but chances are you would have had fun and feel that it was worth it.
Haven't had any trouble myself without a beard and baggy trousers

Agggh - what has happened to the Anglers? Has gone all smart, with a level of pretentiousness to match, but is still soul-less. full of kids in the evenings (of the teenage variety) and even smaller ones during the day. made the mistake of being talked into a visit on christmas eve. remarkably unpleasant experience, mostly being shoved around by drunk boys, and left as soon as I could think of a good excuse and went somewhere else

I'm glad no-one likes it. I do - great for whiling away a weekend afternoon in the window people watching with good company. More chance I'll get a window table if no-one else goes.

Ah - many many very happy memories. Have done the pilgrimage down from London numerous times, and even the name evokes a large smile. One of my top ten in the UK, without a doubt.

The Toad at the Dairy, Camberley
Like descending into the 6th level of Dante's hell. am relieved to see it is shut - am surprised I didn't feel an involuntary shudder of relief when it did. One of the worst places I have ever been and occasionally still revisits my nightmares

horrible - truly, truly horrible. only earns the 1 point in it's rating because it serves alcohol

If I ever get amnesia and wander into this place again by mistake, please shoot me. Actually not that unlikely an occurence judging by the state of it when visited it before. short and shite visit

This is now Isha. Fear not, previous lovers of Out of the Blue, this is still a very good place to visit - we even preferred it! Not cheap, but good beers (inc Weiss biers) and great cocktails. Bar staff are friendly and welcoming, the interior and furnishings stylishly subdued, atmosphere relaxing and, the various times we have been, the DJs spot on. Great for over 25s looking for a relaxed ambience in a more intimate surround, good music and service, and a little bit of something different to the other late night meat markets (not including the fabulous sweat pit of Bacchus)

The Wych Elm, Kingston Upon Thames
wonderful - a real traditional pub, but clean and fantastically friendly. the bar staff are lovely. just don't tell too many people!

Dreadful place - had a terrible time there (both times - gave it second chance). Full of very young chavs and wannabee footballers wives who can't afford the fare to London. A smattering of fights, and dodgy bouncers, round off a nightmare evening. Vicky Pollard likely to start hanging around in the car park soon. Avoid at all costs

The Artful Dodger, Kingston Upon Thames
Yuck. Godforsaken excuse for a pub - even the atmosphere is hostile, and seems to smell of vomit on a regular basis. I hope it gets turned into somewhere worth visiting

The Gazebo, Kingston Upon Thames
Lovely food and setting - perfect for summer sunday afternoons. If only there could be a late license, I'd probably never go home

The Kings Tun, Kingston Upon Thames
good value for lunches, but not even cheap beer could tempt me into this crowded soul-less cesspit for fighting teenagers in the evening. You can't even get into the loo for the amount of girls passed out/fighting/crying/puking or a combination of all of the above

Fantastic pub. Great atmosphere, great music, lovely landlady and friendly staff. Equally friendly to male/female, gay or straight. I even came here before my hen night with a bridesmaid and another friend and forgot to leave until it shut

Woody's, Kingston Upon Thames
Now this is Woody's and it is a fantastic place at last. The food is delicious (especially the homemade cakes) and the management and staff are unbeatable - you really do get a warm welcome and feel thoroughly well looked after.
Wonderful place and my first choice for entertaining friends and family - whether it's a full meal, coffee and cakes, or a messy night on the booze.
