The Rock House Inn, Dulverton

This pub has the air of a good local. We felt welcome, being welcomed back on our second evening, when the landlady remembered what we had drunk the night before. We went to play the quiz machine and have a pre-dinner drink before eating at the Bridge Inn down the road. We didn't eat here. There was no loud music (or even quiet music) so you can talk. There are occasional quizzes.

The Bridge Inn, Dulverton

We ate here for two evenings when staying locally. The staff are very friendly, and there's a good ambience. The food is pretty good overall, although my wife found the lasagne bland one evening. You may need to book. There's no loud music, so you can talk.

Ye Olde George Inn, Christchurch

This pub doesn't only do good beer - it also does very decent food. It's a good menu, well cooked. The chips are crispy, the steak properly cooked, and the fish is crispy - not supermarket squidge. There's a good range of puddings as well.
