Ratskeller Hausbrauerei, Darmstadt

Fantastic place, great staff, good food and excellent beer. Well worth a visit.

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

Went here last night.

Food: utterly, utterly underwhelming. Had a lime and coriander chicken salad, which had no lime or coriander, the chicken wasn't great and neither was the salad.

Beer: Good range as per usual. The "Koenig Ludwig" wheat beer was lovely.

Prices: this place always used to be expensive, but they're just taking the mick now. 3.80 for a bottle of Banana Bread. 5.95 for a 1ltr bottle of Cruzcampo that costs about 50p in Spain. 9.25 for the underwhelming salad.

Not good value for money at all, and given this place is starting to get a bit grubby and tatty (the toilets are *minging*) and other places in the area are starting to increase their beer ranges, I suspect this place could find itself falling out of favour in the near future.

The Beehive, Vauxhall

Ridiculously expensive, especially so for a pub outside the centre of London. Nice beer garden though.

Toronado, San Francisco

Nice bar - staggeringly large range of beers, friendly crowd in here too. Recommended.

Thirst, Soho

Nice place, reasonably cheap too during their happy hours. Friendly staff too.

It's way too small though, the place needs to be about twice the size that it is, and there's a severe lack of ventilation upstairs - got way too sticky and smoky. Downstairs seemed better in this regard.

The Prince Arthur, Lee

Drove past today and was delighted to see this place well and truly boarded up.

Hopefully this horrifically bad boozer can now be consigned to the annals of history.

Windmill, Stansted Airport

Has to be a candidate for the most expensive Wetherspoons pub anywhere - 2.99 for a pint of averagely well kept Flowers IPA.

Food range is very much restricted compared to a normal Wetherspoons - I assume this is because they're limited to what they can cook in a kitchen inside an airport terminal! The burgers they serve here have a tendency to be very dry.
