I know i said i would'nt go back, but this pub is so near West Croydon train station where i have to get a train sometimes. Went to go in here yesterday for coffee and breakfast before going up to London and once again the pub did'nt open i waited untill 9:10 then left, leaving about four very patient customers. Something has to be done about this, it is the second time it has happened to me but what about the regular people who wait outside all the time. I will be writing to weatherspoons this time and hope something will be done.

Went here yesterday for breakfast at 09:00 the pub was not open i waited a few minutes with about 6 customers in the end i left. Went back later for a pint and got told by the staff the manager opened the pub at 09:30,and it is not the first time, and got told by a few customers the new pub manager is not very good and you dont see her very often,and always open around 09:15 to 09:30 and has lost alot of customers, who now go to the George. I had a pint of directors which was not to bad. I always thought this was the best Wetherspoons in Croydon. BUT IF YOU CANT OPEN YOUR DOORS AT THE RIGHT TIME I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK FOR BREAKFAST I WILL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

I have not seen the 2 female managers in here for a couple of weeks,
does anyone know if both of them have been moved, i know 1 was going to Sutton but i thought Kathy was staying. i had 3 good pints of directors, the service is still good and staff polite,

Pop in on Friday good choice of ale on had a few abbot reserve and
ringwood old thumper, service quick and polite,pub was very busy
heard the pub manager is moving to Sutton so i said my goodbyes and wished her the best and told her i would go and visit.

Went in here today just to see if it a changed, no chance, no one behind the bar waited for a few minutes walked out, the customers must be barred from every pub in Croyden to be in here. Next time just walk past and go to the wetherspoons at least you know you can get served.

Beer not bad, staff slow would rather stand at the end of the bar talking, where is the manager to tell them customers come first.

Nice pint of darkstar, but the service is terrible, and when you what serving it seems it is such effort for the staff. I only waited for a drink because i was meeting a friend to do a pub crawl.

This is one of the old pubs of Croydon ,nice pint of youngs service was not two quick but we did get a drink in the end.

Had a nice few pints of Junction from Sambrooks brewery yesterday my friends wont come off the directors as it such a good pint in here.
My wife and friends had a few halves of the guest ciders which all enjoy.The pub was busy got served very quick, some of the staff are more helpfull than others, we all had a good afternoon

Good ales in here over Xmas and new year, had some good evenings in here in December with alot of friends from the office.Hope to see you all in 2011

Went in here yesterday with friends to eat, the pub was very busy but got served very quick, all 6 of us enjoyed the food, it took a bit longer for the food to be served as the pub was busy, but was told by the lady behind the bar that food would be about 15 minutes and it came out about 14 minutes, i thought it would be a lot longer.The abbot and directors were very good , this pub has got so much better over the last few years, good food, ales , the service is the best i have seen in a pub for a long time and i find all the staff polite and very good with the customers .This is a pub that the customer can talk to the staff have a some banter, which you do not see in pubs these days . Keep up the good work .

Went in here last night had a few pints good choice of ales on,the staff and the service is better than the George, you get served very quickly and the staff are very polite, where as in the George you could wait ages and the staff dont care whether you get served or not and are very rude,

Not much choice of ale here had a pint of abbot it was cheap but not good. I would rather pay more and get a good pint, i waited a while to get served even though the pub was not busy.

Went in here Thursday had a pint of ale was told the pub was good for ale it was ok but i have had better. The services is very slow

The Crown and Sceptre, South Croydon
Went in here last night while i was waiting for my take away, had a pint London pride not a bad pint the pub was not very busy got served straight away, it is a fullers pub so is expensive

I read some good news in the Croydon advertiser on Friday about this pub,the pub won best pub and also overall winners in the best bar none awards for Croydon . I would just like to say well done and the pub deserves it. The staff here work hard and help the customers were needed nothing is to much trouble. The ales are the best in the area, the food is good , the pub is the best in CROYDON, keep up your hard work and keep the ales at the standard you have got them as i go to alot of pubs and your ales are 10/10 and directors is the best i have tasted for along time.

Watched the football in here last night with my 2 sons, had 4 very good pints of directors, the atmosphere was good, good service and polite staff this is the best pub around

Slerpy gets very upset about bad things being said about the George,
the staff are rude, place is always untidy, what makes me laugh THE GEORGE has installed the largest television he has ever seen, maybe he should go to other pubs. In Slerpy eyes the George does no wrong no pub is perfect,give it a rest about the George YOU ARE GETTING BORING. He is on the payroll at the George or someone is giving him A FEW FREE DRINKS. soap i like your points slerpy move around abit there is more to life than the George.

what a dump i have never seen anything like this it needs to be knocked down, the lager was terrible i think it must of been the first pint out of the pump for a month, i left it and walked out.

Nice little pub, prices of a pint a bit high but then again it is a young's pub, i had a pint of young's bitter it was not to bad the pub was very quite

I have been going in here for a few months now, it is the best pub around. The ales which have been served are excellent. While the beer fest is on every time you go in you have such a choice of ales always about 9 or 10 on . The staff work very hard you dont wait to long at the bar like some of the other wetherspoon pub around .

Dirty, rude staff, loos smell not sure if ever cleaned, bad manager, the ales are terrible i have never tasted such a bad ale as i had in here. I have given this pub a few visits when my wife has gone shopping but now i would rather stay in the car and read the paper.I agree with mally

What can i say about this pub great ales, good food, hot plates and the staff are the best i have seen in a Wetherspoons. Went here last Saturday evening with 4 friends and had a really good evening. I like this pub because the staff have time to talk to the customers and help them if needed. I am looking forward to the beer festival which starts on 7th April anyone who likes real ales should go here the ales are kept well and served good.

Went in here about a hour ago what a mess the pub is dirty smell is terrible around the bar area, the service is slow, the glasses were dirty and the ale was cloudy, i asked for abbot but was not sure what i got i left my beer and walked out. This pub needs sorting out

What can i say about this pub curry club was very good, i had a few pints of target which were very enjoyable, my wife had a couple glasses of wine. We have only been to this pub twice and both times stayed alot longer than we should of. To me this pub is more like a local the staff and customers have very good banter going on between them, which you do not see in many pubs these days. We will being trying steak club and a roast soon so i will be reporting again. It is the only pub we have found that you can relax and enjoy your food and drink since we moved to Purley

I popped in here yesterday. What a terrible pub, could not get a drink no staff behind the bar, the place was dirty and a horrible smell coming from behind the bar, it had 5 customers all looked like down and outs why do the management let the pubs get like this,

My wife and i went in here yesterday for lunch about midday, it was the best food i have had in a wetherspoons pub for ages, to my surprise the plates even came out hot which does not happen very often. The service was very quick which is another thing that does not happen in wetherspoons, very often i have walked out of many wetherspoons because i have waited so long, also the staff are very polite helpfull, even had time to bring our coffees over to the table. I will be back and spreading a good word about this pub as it always gets knocked for being rough i have heard many a bad word about this pub , but please trust me it is the best wetherspoons around here for food, service and staff. i have found a pub a last. keep up the good work .

Went in here last night good ales on, but takes to long to get a drink 3 people got served before me because the staff knew them, the place was untidy. I will try this pub again but it will be in the day .

I was in here last Sunday. What a dump,i had a pint of lager i think it must of been one that was left over from last night flat dirty glass the place smelled of rotten beer and it was dirty. The customers were a bit rough and female customers were shouting more than the men.

This is a nice PUB friendly stuff and good service and a good pint of youngs. This is one of the better pubs in croydon i have found so far.

Another wetherspoons with slow and rude staff, had a pint of directors not a bad pint but it took ages to get, while the staff were having a chat,no rush to serve the customers must finish conversation first. I did ask to speak to the manager about the service and the staff said he is sitting in the office, then turned around and said to the other member of staff as he always is.I don't think this is the way the staff should carry on. I am looking for a nice pub with nice staff good service why are these pubs so hard to find.

This wetherspoons is a bit small compare to some of the other i have been to i went in there about 2 weeks ago when i moved to purley. The staff were not in any rush to serve you, i find that in alot of wetherspoons . It seemed a freindley pub more of a local i had a guest ale was alright but i have had better. i will go back but will be trying other pubs around and find out if there is anymore wetherspoons around
