Great character pub. with not bad beer.
Must agree with comments that sometimes it appears to be run by the kids, but definitely worth a visit.

Top pub.
Great bar buzz and good food.
Probably drove by 200 times before I tried it, but glad I finally discovered it.

It is what it is!
A friendly pulling joint.
No problem with that.
Don't come here for quality ales though.

Disorganised behind the bar.
Plastic glasses after 8.000PM? No thanks.

Good, well run pub.
Nice friendly atmosphere and management who really make an effort.
Well up in my Guildford top 10.

Only a flying visit, but despite being very much a foodie pub, there several locals gathered at the bar chatting, which is always a good sign.
Beer selection not great, it appears to be a lager drinker's pub.

It's seldom I leave a pub without buying a beer - but I did here.
The overall impression was of a hotel reception area - such a backward step from the original, charismatic pub. Zero ambiance.

Now back on form after a somewhat dismal period when it tried to work out whether it was a pub or restaurant.
With new managers the staff are now lively and engaged and beer is consistently good.
Haven't eaten there, but have heard good things about the food.

Without wanting to get into the tedious squabbling that drags these reviews down, I would like to point out:
1. Biker, you are wrong. I am in no way associated with the Harriers; I live on the South Coast and visit Godalming every few weeks.
2. The beer quality in this pub is top notch (beerintheevening?)as noted in most reviews.
3. When travelling, it is a rare treat to find a country pub which you can enter alone without feeling like an alien. When you find one, stick with it! The Merry Harriers is one such pub hence my defence of it and my return visits
4. I have seen lots of people eating there and never heard a complaint; however if there is a problem with food, why not address that, rather than turning it into personal abuse of the owners and facile carping about bottled cider?

Did paulryanonline visit the same Merry Harriers as me?
I have been in this pub 3 times under its new ownership and each time have been engaged in friendly conversation by a mix of locals, campers and llama treckers. The talk of abuse from the the landlord and 'nasty' conversations with locals certainly don't ring true to me.
Beer is good; I can't comment on the food, but those eating on my visits seemed happy.
Irt also had the best buzz of any country pub I know on a Monday night.

The White Hart, Witley
Cliquey local at bar make no attempt to move or make way to others wanting services.
It's a shame, as the landlady makes a great effort in this pub and serves good beer (I haven't tried the food) and I hope she makes a go of it.
