I have always enjoyed going to this carvery, nice surroundings - they did it up after a fire, and great for family get togethers. The prices are always good and have always found the food to be great value. Surrounded by a moat full of huge fish and ducks which the kids and adults love to watch - it has some outside seating. I would recommend it, especially the early bird prices for the carvery before 5.00pm

Have been using this pub for years and will really miss it when I move away soon. The Managers Noel & Suzanne are friendly as is their daughter who helps out as a waitress. The food we have had has always been great and the beers and wines on offer first class. We have always had great service with a smile. The Chef & Brewer menu is always good and we often use a pub in Harpenden which has the same good menu.

Had Sunday lunch in this pub this week and have to say it is the best carvery I have ever been to, great value for money. The food was great, a choice of beef, turkey or gammon or all three if you wanted - it filled half the plate soooooooooo generous were the portions!!! There is a very wide choice of vegetables which were well cooked and not at all soggy, you can also choose to have salad with your meat and the salad bar did look very appetising! The menu also has other choices like fish dishes etc. There was lots of choice of dessert, we chose Profiteroles & Apple pie and custard - homemade and very nice. They told us they had been back up and running under new management for about 9 months, the staff were helpful and friendly - we booked but there were some spare tables as it is early in the season. We will definitely be returning!

Had a great meal here on the way to the ferry yesterday. Service was good and friendly too. The food was excellent with plenty of well cooked veg (not soggy). I would reccomend it, it has lovely river views and plenty of outside seating.
