Briarfields, Titchwell

Have stayed a couple of times but called in on a wet windy day recently with tired kids in tow. Nice welcome and no problems with kids running around etc... and loads of books and board games to occupy them. Could easily have turned into one of those 'could have stayed here all day' days.

The Pulpit Inn, Portland

I have visited many times most recently in late 2009. Agree very pricey but good ale, very warm welcome and the crab sandwiches are delicious! I am in Weymouth this weekend and will hopefully get over to the Bill for a visit.

Dog and Gun, Whetstone

Not overly impressed. Not sure if was a member of staff or the landlady who was insisting on holding a conversation with a couple of regulars. I didn't really mind too much but I look exception to the dreadful foul language she chose to use ! I swear frequently but there's a time and a place but not for one particular word!!!! Add to this a sunday lunchtime drinker asleep on the bench outside and you will see that I am in no rush to go back. Aside from that it was a good pint. Play equipment in the garden however is in dire need of updating

Bricklayers Arms, Thornton

Service generally ok and an above average menu with all the usual pub grub plus some nice specials. Great garden for families but a running theme seems to be dog mess from the pub dogs which foul just about anywhere in the garden. Very offputting for those eating and downright dangerous when there are young kids around.

The Kaffir, Whetstone

Went here on the offchance yesterday as they had a large sign advertising a childrens play paddock. Equipment was old, dirty and broken. The lager I had tasted vaguely of line cleaner and my partners draught white wine was truly awful. From memory this used to be a good welcoming pub and eatery. Not any more..............
