Something of a shambles. We visited at the rough halfway point of a circular walk around Portland and were gagging for refreshment. Unfortunately, it took about half an hour to get served although they did let us have the drinks on the house. The waiting staff were clearly working very hard so no fault there. The pub sign says it's a 'freehouse'.........b@ll@cks. How can it be when the choice is Ringwood 49er and, yes, the dreadful Doom Bar. When a landlord has a free choice of ales why pick this tasteless concoction? Nice location but totally wasted. fugglehops - 6 Oct 2016 22:09 |
Although I travel round a fair bit I have not visited this pub but you will see from some of my previous postings that my opinion of Doom Bar is similar to Cellarboy, Colmc and Mark888. Since the Coors takeover of Sharps the standard of Doom Bar has gone downhill markedly but it seems to be even more available countrywide than the dreaded Greene King IPA. Tastebuds of the UK should unite in protest! yellowfever - 18 Jun 2015 19:11 |
I too agree with Mark888. Doombar is really pissy stuff since Coors took it over (the bottles stuff isnt even brewed in Cornwall anymore). Spartan needs to sort himself out cellarbuoy - 18 Jun 2015 18:35 |
I can only agree with Mark888 why waste your thirst drinking the sweet bland Doombar when there are so many fantastic small brewers beers available. Sparton seems to think that he is the only one entitled to an opinion which in my book makes him the bigot and of his 4 previous comments 3 are negative, very sad man indeed. colmc - 18 Jun 2015 18:24 |
