I lived up the road from here for two years but only went in twice - seems to have quite a local regular crowd - nice owner though who lent me his ladders whenI had a blocked drain.

Large pub, pretty modern and with nice grounds, quite a few students and often standing room only.

Nice ales, usually four including Tim Taylor's landlord and something from Bradfield Brewery. Pleasant drinking area to the left but this is more of a high end dining pub and does very well - I like the sweet potato wedges with japaleno dip, although those after a traditional sunday dinner won't be disappointed either.

Fully agree with Carlurmston, was in here last night for a very nice Easy Rider, not many suburban pubs about these days ticking over nicely at 8pm on a rainy Monday in November.

If you want real ale while watching Sky Sports then this is the best. If you only want one of these two things it's good but there are others that are better.

Nice to see a pub that does excellent food but still feels like a pub, with a discreet dining area after going through the welcoming lounge. Usually three or four real ales on including Bradfield's Farmers Blonde. Food is expensive but well worth it - salmon cooked three ways, slightly pink venison, dauphinoise potatoes, not gammon and chips for a fiver.

Usually has Ruddles County, Hardy's and Hanson's, and Old Speckled Hen in good condition along with staple lagers. Nice decking outside makes it look more welcoming than the Red Lion a hundred yards up the road. Pub Quiz Tuesdays, Karaoke Saturdays.

Euxton Mills Hotel, Euxton
Very good real ale selection, although not quite as impressive as the hanging flower baskets.
