The Kings Head, Salisbury

I know pubs need to look after their regulars but a jolly smile and pleasant welcome wouldn't go amiss from the bar to a weary walker by. This sadness was forgotten and adequately made up for by the Landlord who was attentive to the food order which was most sufficient for our needs. A comfortable place with sensible food without inflated prices.

The Mayfly, Chilbolton

Once experienced never to return in my case.
Regrettably, I have to agree with so many of the previous negative postings.
My abiding recollection is the charging by the spoonload and the tardy service.
It may have changed since - I hope so.

The Talbot, Mells

A quintessential English pub. Good beer but don't ask for food if your car fails to get you there in good time, although it was served with good grace after a dodgy start!

The King Rufus, Eling

Were recommended to go but why I have yet to fathom. The locals seemed a happy bunch as did the numerous dogs. Felt like interlopers as we inched our way to a table with the regulars most put out as they made way for us. The bar person was positively surly. A pleasant but uninspiring lunch. Can't remember how good the beer was. A pub for locals - nothing wrong with that and a good thing - but some don't have a pub within walking distance. Perhaps we chose a bad day?

The Thomas Lord, West Meon

A nice local atmosphere. A real effort is made with the food although a tad pricey for a pub. A commendable effort to support local suppliers. Attentive staff. A quick wipe with a cloth/apron over the table to remove evidence of previous incumbant before laying down the silver would be nice. Nice to have linen napkins. They'll see me again. Well maintained beer too.
