The Crown and Anchor, Old Woking
This is a pretty decent pub although if you're not a regular, you might feel a bit intimidated walking into it at first. Don't let this put you off though. This is certainly a football orientated pub - most games on plenty of screens and plenty of football fans in there. Also, check out the rack on one of the bar maids. it's worth visiting just for that!

it's still a pub that lacks atmosphere. the bar is decent in length but all this seems to offer is more queueing space. the staff are, and i can't prove this, the slowest bar staff in woking. i've never seen a guiness take 5 minutes before and still come back to me half guiness half head.

This place really is awful! Like previous comments, you pay to get in, generally queue for ages for the pleasure, and then wait about 20 minutes each time you want a beer. I would recommend being hammered before coming here, if you can wake up in the morning and not remember it, well done you. Oh, and the standard of girls in this place is excellent. If you like the 'overwieght but proud' type.

See notes on Chameleon. Never go there, always come here. A lot smaller but a lot better. Plus, and I could be wrong here, you don't pay to get in?

oh, and once in you're generally ok. The staff are quick to serve and it can get pretty busy. I guarantee though, after 15 minutes of getting in, you'll wonder why you paid for the privelage.

This pub has experienced a few changes over the last few years what with a new landlady and a bit of a refurb. Went here the other night and had a decent night, the band (Red Rocket) were good as always. Two main issues with this pub at the moment are the time it takes to get served and the bouncers constantly walking throughout the busiest parts of the pub, pushing their way through, knocking over drinks etc, for no apparent reason. The time it takes to get served is due to how busy it gets and how few staff they seem to have for these busy times. The staff they DO have are very good however. And I understand the bouncers have a job to do, but is it really necessary to patrol the same small area once every 3 minutes? At one point I felt like buying the guy a drink and offering him a seat as he felt just as much part of the group as the other faces I was seeing (my friends).

I've been to this pub a few times, each time to participate in their quiz. Excellent evening really, if your in the area on a Monday night (and possibly Wednesdays?) then you should pop in with some friends and have a go. Staff seem a little slow to serve but get there in the end and are polite. Not an ale drinker myself so can't comment on those but usual lagers etc

I like this pub. I've never eaten here though, but I enjoy sitting in the beer garden in the Summer. The only downside to this is I wish they had more room. Don't get me wrong, they do have a big outdoor area, but because they can be quite popular in the Summer, it soon becomes packed.
The staff are friendly and quick to serve, but if you happen to be taller than 5'5, watch out for the beam just before the toilets!

Like most of the people who have posted comments about this pub, I am a big fan. Every single time I come here, I know that my group of friends and I will have a great night.
St Patricks night was very busy, but as a previous poster noted, there was no anger at the bar. The staff are keen to serve as quickly as possible, and I've not seen any mistakes with food or drink orders so far.
With regards to the 'predictable' music on offer, I too found this but the landlady, Kate, is more than happy to change the music to suit your taste, should she have the relevant tracks.
And yes, the girls that danced on St Paddy's night were Kate's daughters, and very good they were too!
Will definately be going back there soon.

Vesbar, Shepherds Bush
it's amazing what a french bar maid can do to someone's opinion of a very average 'bar'!
