The Fulflood Arms, Winchester

Went on a quiet Sunday lunchtime - only a few others there who were all regulars I think. Made to feel very welcome. They have their own micro-brewery downstairs - tried the two that we on from there and they were both really good. Will be going again.

The Archduke Restaurant and Wine Bar, Waterloo

Went here on a wet Thursday early evening and it was three quarters full. Very friendly service, we got seated as we wanted food too - chap playing piano added to the atmosphere. Not really a pub - there was no draught bitter when we went but good assortment of bottled beers and a German one on tap. Food was really good - would go back.

The Hoop and Grapes, Aldgate

Went there mid week for a quick pint with friend after work,nd it as OK. Not particuarly welcoming, or busy (Just how hard is it to smile?). In a word, average - there are better pubs within a few minutes walk - which had it been a longer catchup we wold have done.

The Bishop On The Bridge, Winchester

Been here a few times and it's always been fine - bit pricey but nice seating area overlooking the river, papers to read, had food twice and it's been decent quality. Tried various bitters and they have always been OK, and the staff seemed friendly enough. I wouldn't choose it as a destination pub but more than adequate for a drink and a natter after work.

The Acorn, Bicester

The food was awful - not enjoyable at all. Would not go back.

Ye Old Bell & Steelyard, Woodbridge

Couple who run this are lovely - very welcoming and the beer was top. Live music (Acoustic guitar) was on when we went.

The Feathers, Wymondham

Very nice pub, very friendly welcome. Was packed on a Thursday night. We didn't eat there but the food looked lovely. Would go back - not local.

The Albion, Winchester

Dreadful - barman was unfriendly & beer was not right. Shame really because its got a very handy location. Loos absolutely stank. Theres much better in Winchester - I'd second ABA - Anywhere But Albion!

The Litten Tree, Basingstoke

Awful. Avoide.

The Arboretum, Ipswich

Lovely pub. Really friendly staff, non-intrusive but good music. Good beer. Spent several evenings here earlier in the year when my Dad was in hospital and was consistently impressed.

The Mayfly, Chilbolton

I have to agree with most of the negatives here (if only I'd read the review before we came!) Beautiful setting, ruined by penny-pinching management. More signs telling you what you can't do than any pub I have ever been to, my favourite was "It is ILLEGAL to run a tab for alcohol alone" or words to that effect, in other words each time you buy a round with a card, it's an extra 25p!
Would not bother going back - the Plough at Sparsholt is a MUCH nicer option.

The Seal, Woodbridge

I'd echo the comments from Biggle, BUT the food is reasonable in terms of quality and price - we had a table of 12 with no muck-ups. The pub is part of the Vintage Inn chain. There's loads of tables, and yes while they don't actually say it, they seem to prefer people sitting down! It's non-smoking throughout, piped music was irritating. Staff were pleasant enough, service was OK.

The Market Trader, Aldgate

Really rather good - Stella_Bills comments are spot o - the Thai curry was excellent, decent beer, friendly staff. Plenty of screens if you are a footy fan, and music (Virgin radio sort of stuff) if there's not a game on. Even the toilets were clean!
Recommended.

Ye Old Bell & Steelyard, Woodbridge

This is a nice friendly traditional bub, right in the centre of Woodbridge. The current owners are very friendly and welcoming, we had great beer and lovely fish and chips last time. I'm not a regular - visit a few times a year, but it's always good. Looses 2 points for being a bit smokey sometimes.
