Not all Vintage Inns are named after animals, in fact the guy that used to be in charge of VI sailed his yacht out of Woodbridge and when up there for a site visit, went sailing and saw a seal. Hence the name. Lots are named after animals but not all.

Crooked Chimney
Danson Stables
Kings Head
Robin Hood
The Crown

etc

The sad name 'The Seal' is because all Vintage Inns have to be named after an animal and in addition all have a silly (intended to be comic but they always fail in that) inn sign with a cartoon creature on.

(The Duke of York closed in the 19th C)
