One of the better pubs in Alton and after the departure of Helen and Nigel a few years back has regained a lot of its trade it lost following them leaving.
Food a bit pricey but good standard and plenty of choice of beers to suit most tastes.
Bar staff friendly and helpful but if only same could be said of the landlady.
Stern, morose and unsmiling countenance is very offputting and gives the impression she would sooner be elsewhere.
Cheer up ducks it may never happen or maybe it has!

The Poacher, South Warnborough
Oh dear what a disappointment have sung the praises of this pub in the past but had to say was a bit disenchanted with last Saturdays visit.
Booked a table for four and surprised to find we were the only table occupied in the restaurant.Friendly welcome as usual although did not see Ami during the evening.Menu had been reduced in size as had the portions of the Whitebait starter pretentiously served of a block of wood instead of a plate. Two chicken main courses were rather dry but two steak mains ok.
Lack of diners equalled lack of atmosphere and whilst people are not eating out as much during the current financial climate maybe the Poachers have taken their eye off the ball somewhat.

The Poacher, South Warnborough
Visited The Poachers for the first time in over a year and pleased to find the atmosphere, food and service was as good as the last time.
Varied menu to suit most tastes all at sensible prices.Visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant section and the bar were really busy testament to a popular well run establishment.
Certainly won't wait another year to return.

Can confirm all preceeding comments regarding the Cedars.
Booked a table for four on Saturday night and from a varied menu had excellent meals at very reasonable prices.
Warm welcome, pleasant service, nice atmosphere and for warm summer days and evenings plenty of outside seating plus kids play area.
Will return soon.

Lord Raglan, Emsworth
Every visit to Emsworth over the last couple of years(about seven) has included a visit to the Lord Raglan and have yet to be disappointed.
Warm welcome every time and as most visits have been in summer have used the excellent garden.Good food at very reasonable prices and friendly service plus London Pride is worth checking out.Enjoy!
