The Ship Inn, Levington

We used to come to this pub in early 70s when there was jsut a hole in the wall from which beer was served.

A wonderful pub with excellent food and friendly efficient staff.

It's a really welcoming place

The Butt and Oyster, Chelmondiston

I hadn't been to the butt for nearly 10 years and noted that it had undergone a refurbishment. The old restaurant is now split level and looks a bit like a theme pub with naff ornaments everywhere. Thank goodness the bar hasn't been altered. This pub didn't need alteration it was perfection already.

Food and beer still excellent, staff friendly. A nostalgic revisit indeed.

A lovely pub - the best in England (Probably)

The Ferry Boat Inn, Felixstowe

I love the pub but fear the current management to be a bit lacking in customer care. I waited in the queue for food orders for about 10 minutes, only to find that some other people had formed another queue next to me. The landlady served them all before me and then proceded to tell me to queue in the correct place in future. She then insisted that I get a table location before the order was taken, and so my wife found a spot outside. When I had effectively queued for a third time I was told by this same woman that they don't serve food at those tables. She was like the computer says no woman in Little Britain. I am surprised she didn't cough on me. The food was good through, when we eventually got some. I think that these people think that they are a little bit superior somehow.

Royal Oak, Fritham

Our favourite new forest pub. Lovely atmosphere, dog friendly, good beer. Not that big and so can get crowded - but well worth a visit.

The Green Dragon, Cadnam

A nice pub indeed. Good food although we arrived a minute after service and they wouldn't give us a meal. Disappointing,

The Hare and Hounds, Sway

We love going to the Hare and Hounds. Great roast dinners, friendly staff, good beer, comfy sofas, warm open fires in the winter. What more could you ask for?

The Gun, Keyhaven

We like going to the Gun after a walk along to Hurst spit Castle. It's a nice characterful pub with some friendly staff. The pub is dog friendly, serves good beer and reasonable food (although the menu and cooking would benefit from a make over, perhaps a decent chef is needed). I think the food is of it's time and not up-to -date with the sort of gastro pub quality places one expects these days. This will probably prevent it from being a fantastic pub - although it's nice to go there nonetheless. The beer garden is very nice, particularly in the summer. I must say though that I have found whom I believe to be the landlord quite moody at times and bordering rude. Charm school wasn't his thing I'd say, but try not to let that put you off. Last summer we went to the pub and there seemed to be an arguement going on amongst the staff and associated family members - it was quite bizarre that they carried on in this way in front of customers - like a soap opera. Not really what you want when relaxing with a pint but there you go. I hope that for their sake they learn about pleasing the customer. Otherwise, a lovely, charming and seemingly popular genuine English pub. Enjoy!!
