The Bottle and Glass, Rainford
Beautiful romantic setting for a date due to location, candles on tables etc... I've been a few times and its always been nice but the last time i visited i was slightly disappointed. We waited a long time for a table, then waited to have our order taken for about 20 mins (the staff just seemed like they werent interested at all), then waited an eternity for the food. When it arrivied it wasnt even that good, it was pretty average. The service was terrible. It wouldnt put me off going because its a lovley pub, i just hope the service is better next time.

Really good pub, beautiful modern decor. Much classier than your average pub. Absolutley huge inside. The carvery is the best ive ever had, the mashed potatoes are devine. I go quite often and it does tend to be busy, especially sunday afternoon! So expect a bit of a wait for a table. Theres a nice area to sit and have a drink while you wait though and our waiting time has never been more than 15 mins even though sometimes weve been quoted 45 mins! a bit off putting! The prices are slightly above average but well worth paying because its such good service and a nice environment.
The staff are friendly and helpful but the main menu is a bit limited, i think probably due to the fact they have the carvery on ALL the time.

The Bird In The Hand, St Helens
Large pub, shows live sport. good atmosphere, brilliant on a saints match day, outside seating also. staff always look smart and are helpful and welcoming. Beer is much cheaper than other locals and food is cheap and cheerful. Good offers like 2 for 10. obviously not the highest quality but it does the job. Pub in good location, walking distance of the town centre. often see some minor local celebs in there! Decent pub.

This pub is over priced and pretentious, really tries to be something its not. The owners obviously have no idea how to run the place coz its always empty, while other pubs in the area do well. You can get a pint cheaper just about everywhere else in the area. The house wine is obviously really cheap stuff, a bit like paint stripper but still quite pricey. The food is nothing special considering they claim homecooked but obviously reheated in a microwave, lasagne was hotter than hot. Steer clear on a saints home game, too busy and you get your drink literally thrown at you in a plastic beaker. Staff are ok, always look smart and polite. Owner very moody if you catch him on the wrong day. The woman is ok but likes a drink.

Lovely pub, classy. Went on a sunday afternoon to the restaurant side of the pub. The food was delicious, well cooked and nicely presented, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Was pretty quiet considering how nice it was!! I would reccomend it.
The prices were very reasonable, will definatley be going back!
