Yes Mcewans you are missing out. It was a private bar/restaurant 25 years ago but now its got good old local charm.
You dont often see shove'hapenney these days but here even the local darts league know where they stand.
Food is from good down to earth basic and can sometime be memorable, mums best gravy.
Old Oakmeadians meet here also, licensee being one of them.

I used to like this one then for some unknown reason they stopped selling Directors and that was the best pint of Directors sold within 15 miles of Poole.
I do remember asking to use the toilet when cycling home (to Bournemouth) from Sixpenny Handley in 1957 and being given a small glass of real lemonade. I was 14 then.

I always say if you see cycles parked outside on a Sunday it must be good. Cyclist's are always there and I know it is good.

My last visit to the Phene was three months spanning through 1968/69 in those days it was a fabulous refuge away from the Kings Road Discos.
You could sit down and have a pint with anyone and start a conversation, I met 'Bomber Harris' there one evening.
If you say what it is now maybe I'll give it a miss.
My rating is based on 1969
