We went to the Mermaid on our first night. Right off the key it has a bar on ground floor, restaurant upstairs and bar called the Slip Inn. Food was ok but beer was nothing to write home about (Scilly Ales). We both felt very uncomfortable in this pub and felt it had a clicky atmosphere. Some items were sold out (bacardi and some ales) this was due to cargo problems (I was told) but many of the other pubs seemed to be well stocked.

The Bishop & Wolf was a real let down during our weeks stay on St. Mary's. Food lacking in fish and quality. restaurant was closed every night so you could only use the bar and the beer was flat and had tastless. In desparate need of a little TLC. I think St. Austell Brewery should have a word in the managers ear.

Came here for the last few nights of our stay and I must say what a rare find. It is a beautiful character pub and I say the best on St. Mary's. The staff are helpful and friendly. A great improvement on from April 2007. The managers here really know how to run a pub. If you want a good range of REAL (perfectly kept)ales and good food then come here. You will need to book as it gets very busy. We were also aloud to bring our dogs into the bar area.
