Had a christmas dinner there, we were the only people there and found clingfilm on our plate! The meat was dry so was likely to be microwaved - KEEP CLEAR

The Mole Trap, Stapleford Tawney
Fantastic traditional pub. Had a main meal for under a tenner and left full, good beer and friendly welcome. Pitty they are not open all day as felt a bit pressured to leave

Very village hall like interior. Expensive 3 course meal. Have never had a 3 course meal and gone home hungry. Eat before you go, at this pub less isn't more!

The Eight Bells, Saffron Walden
Nice Interior but the food was extremely disappointing for what you would have thought should be a high class menu. The food was like something on wetherspoons standard. I had pork belly which was about a 3 inch square and 1 cm thick, around a third of it was fat and to top it off it was burnt black on the outside and cost 16!!! How could a place that appears to be such a good venue send a meal out like that! I didnt like to cause a fuss as I was with a group but shall certainley not be suggesting this to my friends/clients in Walden nor will I willingly be visiting again. One to avoid!

Cheap but poor quality food, a good range of beers, plenty of tables, but as a customer you feel an incovenience to the rude staff that work there. Also on a busy weekend evening there were just 3 people seving on the bar which took 35 minutes for me to get served!

Had a very good meal at the newly opened and refurbished Hoops Inn. Slow service but a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

The Yew Tree has re-opened after a refit and is very disappointing. You are not made to feel welcome, it has lost ALL the character of a country pub and feels like a deserted town bar (it is very quiet and unadvertised!) Very upsetting to have lost a pub that could have been a friendly local.

What can I say! Rude owner, when he eventually moved from the games machine to the bar to serve me. The shelves were lined with dust and the glasses looked as though they had only been rinsed, covered in smears and lipstick. The bar floor was dirty with bottletops gathered in the corners. Although the pub was empty there were still empty glasses and plates on the tables from lunch time. I would NEVER recommend this place. With new professional owners this COULD be an nice place BUT as it is, it is one to avoid!

Had a very nice meaol, nice to find a pub with such long food serving hours. Plenty of waitresses to make our visit a pleasurable one and a VERY UNIQUE interior. The only thing I can say against it is that the price of food was a little high for me to regularly eat here.

The Duke Of York, Saffron Walden
Run by very experienced publicans with well kept beer. Its a clean, well decorated pub in the centre of town. It shows a lot of sport on the television and seemed like a true locals pub. As an outsider I didnt feel particularly welcome.

A good meeting place, family friendly. Cheap priced food which is perfectly edible with good portions. A very big selection of drinks.

The Axe and Compasses, Arkesden
A nice pub but the food was overpriced and I was dissapointed with the quality of the beer.

A pub run by a friendly couple, with well kept beer and a good entertainment programme, worth a visit.
