Took a party of 7 here today for sunday lunch, ranging from 80 years old down to a 10 year old, spent £85 on food and drink only to find a hair in my granddaughters food, my wife took her meal back to the bar to have it replaced, the next thing that happened was the guvnor came over, thrust a tenner at me and threw us all out telling me that we were troublemakers. I am incredulous that any of my group could be described as trouble in any way. The throwback that threw us out was a pig, rude to all of us, not explaining in any way what we had done 'wrong', just continuing to grunt 'get out, you're done'. I get the feeling that if you are not a regular here, you are not wanted. End result, a ten year old nearly in tears and the other 6 people confused. DONT GO TO THIS PUB. cjc0784 - 7 Apr 2013 15:16 |
Fantastic traditional pub. Had a main meal for under a tenner and left full, good beer and friendly welcome. Pitty they are not open all day as felt a bit pressured to leave country2010 - 21 Dec 2011 17:58 |
Have visited the Mole Trap many times over past few years. Always a good selection of bitters available and they are always first class; and you are invited to try before you buy. There's no music, no kids, no fruit machine, no credit cards, so it tends to fill up with lunching wrinklies. Food seems to be all home-prepared; not like the standard factory made stuff in many pubs; with most meals you get 4 or 5 fresh veg ! We have always been pleased with the food except when once or twice, part of the meal was lukewarm. Staff pleasant and friendly. Shame it's not open all day ! Jimdee - 4 Apr 2011 21:29 |
This pub is set in a beaufiful part of Essex countryside, pity the experience was ruind by the unfriendly discourteous bar staff. Howardg - 17 Jan 2011 21:05 |
Visited here for lunch today after a 5 mile country ramble with a friend. We were greeted by a very unfriendly elderly barman, who we assumed to be the landlord. After some confussion over table arrangements he became agresssive and abusive. I requested our money back and left. This guy had the worst customer services skills I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. A dreadful experience. terryh - 27 Dec 2010 23:17 |
