Doggetts Coat and Badge, Southwark

Staff were exceptionally rude. Drinks order messed up and forgotten. Food took over an hour to come. Food had to be sent back as was absolutely woefully overcooked, roast beef was like leather, burger had been incinerated, chips were cold, roast spuds were tasteless and soggy. Pepsi was 2.05 for a half pint. Manager had to come over twice, she was rude as well. Ended up not paying for food. Worst pub I have ever been to will never go anywhere near it ever again. Spectacularly awful. Never seen anything like it.

The Rusty Bike, Exeter

Great pub. Good ales and ciders on tap. Quirky decor with a vintage table football table. Lots of board games, Jenga etc. Decent outdoor space with big projector for live sport and regular movie nights, watch out for sitting under kitchen extractor fan and getting splattered by fat. On a friday the food was exceptional, in particular the starter 'Black Pudding, Bacon & Venison Sausage Terrine' which was a take on a full english breakfast, served with a fried quails egg, fried slice of bread and chopped tomatoes with tea jelly, absolutely brilliant.

As a result of htis brilliant friday, a few of us went back on sunday and the food was unrecognisable, clearly chefs night off and for the same prices it was a total farce. two plates had to be sent back, a rare steak was well done and a tuna had been completely ruined. inquired as to where one of the beers came from as id never seen it before and the barman bluntly said 'from the pump'. well thanks very much.

if you go tuesday-saturday its exeptional.

The Lamb Inn, Hindon

Been a few times. Food is always very good. Good beer (Tribute, Bombardier and a couple of Young's) although have had better Tribute. However today had first bad experience there, waited about an hour and a half for our main courses which was totally unaccpetable. We were offered a free round of drinks to make up for this. The waiter appeared spaced out and totally off the ball most of the time which was also poor. The food was great when it turned up, Lamb Shank was very good in particular but the wait was ridiculous and we refused to pay the 10% surcharge.

The Double Locks, Exeter

Spectacular on a sunny day. Decent beers. Food not bad for a Youngs pub, although there was a SLUG in my salad last time. They refunded the meal and gave me a free one, but still not impressed.

Great pizzas, top spot on the quay if the sun is out.

Jack in the Green, Rockbeare

Not the prettiest building in the world - but other than that a perfect pub.

Great food & ales. Massive interior which can cater for anything. Multiple award winning, Bib Gourmand, AA** and the pastry chef won an award for being the best in the world recently.

Sunday roast, bar menu, tasting menu and a la carte are all available. Good service etc...
bloody good.

The Victoria Inn, Exeter

New manager has done an amazing job. Good food at ridiculous prices, improved beer selection and quality and has done some work on the interior.

BUT - watch out for a bloke who wears a padlock round his neck who cooks when the owner isn't in. His food is poor in relation, he looks like he wants to kill himself and he puts on loud heavy metal music which kills the atmosphere completely. He served up some 'Garlic Bread' recently - consisted of burnt toast and raw garlic, not impressed.

When he's not in, the boss does a great job on the food. Brie Bacon & Cranberry baguette is bloody brilliant, comes with chips and is only 3.95. Good home made pizzas are served after 6pm.

Drink The Vic Dry is reportedly returning in Sep/Oct 09.

Mosaic, Exeter

Monday & Tuesday student nights cracking. Cheap lash, 6 jugs of snakebite and good music.

During the day, boring bar with no ales and poor food

The Rugglestone Inn, Widecombe in the Moor

Very nice pub. Huge beer garden and very small bar indoors make it ideal for a nice summers day but i imagine not so good in the winter. Lots of local cask ales, good honest food, fish pies, steak & stilton pie, fish & chips, all very nice.

good location for haytor, bowermans nose, giants chair etc.

The Fat Pig, Exeter

Great food great beer (& cider) lovely pub.

Bit small but cracking atmosphere and really like the homely feel with the wooden tables and stools. Have a pint of Proper Job if you can it is delish.

The King William IV, Mickleham

Have been going to the KWIV for years on and off, maybe once a twice a year, have always been a fan. Have been concerned by recent reviews of the place with new management etc...
BUT
I went back tonight and it was bloody brilliant! Had 4 fantastic local beers (TEA, Shere Drop, FFF and the new Dorking No.1), and the 8oz Venison Steak (rare) with dauphinoise tats and veg. The venison was exquisite, and the potatoes and gravy were also perfectly done. My friend had the King Scallops for main course which were also fantastic on a bed of crayfish in Italian tomato sauce with rice.

The barman who I assume to be the owner was dishing out free tasters left right and centre and he seems passionate about the beer which is very impressive.
I cant wait to go back!
