The George, Croydon

Surprisingly this was a lot busier than the Milan bar (Lloyds) round the corner on a Saturday night. Also, it's handy and cheaper for breakfast if you're staying at the travelodge or Jurys inn nearby.

The White Hart Inn, Margaretting Tye

When I was at this pub (IMHO by far the best pub in the area) on Friday night, I notice they're now advertising 2 ensuite rooms for B&B. The usual great range of beer (including the well-kept Adnams Broadside), with 3 or 4 guest ales.
Relatively quiet for a Friday evening actually, but I guess a lot of people are on holiday.

Jimmys Bar and Brasserie, Bournemouth

Went past this on Thursday whilst in Bournemouth for the weekend. It's closed down, and there's a repossession order on the door!

The Roebuck Inn, Nottingham

Not a great choice of real ale, when I popped in there on Saturday night. Most of the guest ales were off. However, the service was prompt.
Incidentally, they have a sign in there saying "Smokers are welcome to use our roof terrace". Hence the retention of a cigarette machine. Much better, now its non-smoking downstairs though
Can't really compete with the nearby Olde Trip to Jerusalem and Old Salutation for choice of beer and atmosphere, but still better than the majority of pubs / bars in the town centre. I personally prefer this to the Wetherspoons on the Market square, but neither are as good as the Wetherspoons' Last Post in Beeston.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

Unique setting. A really attractive pub inside. I thought they had a really good range of beer. I had a pleasant pint of "Guzzling Goose". Surprisingly, when I went in (about 5:30 pm on Saturday) it wasn't all that crowded (busy, but not uncomfortably so).
The main bad point was the service. Don't think I've ever seen a more miserable group of barmen, who serve in the most begrudging, moody manner possible! My barman wasn't too bad, but they were serving some people at a snail's pace.

The Shamrock Bar, Bournemouth

Yes, I'd say this is probably the best place to watch football in Bournemouth (just ahead of Walkabout on the other side of town). Convenient if you're staying in any of the hotels on the West Cliff.

Dean Park Inn, Bournemouth

Well kept Wadworth beer. Extremely good value food, with very large portions. The 2 jumbo sausages and chips very nearly beat me!! A few outside tables at the front, but these tend to get occupied quickly on a warm day.

The True Lovers Knot, Tarrant Keyneston

Good bar snacks and well kept Badger beers. Jovial landlord. Still seemed to have a fair number of locals in the bar area (which we sat in) despite a certain portion of the pub being a set-aside restaurant area.
Worth mentioning there's a nice little caravan site at the back of the pub, as well as B&B accomodation in the pub itself.

The Barley Mow, Broomhill

Outstanding. Been in twice for evening meals over the last week, whilst on holiday in the area. Good wide ranging menu, with a number of interesting specials.
Friendly & welcoming landlady, and hard-working, efficient staff. Agree with Ajho that they've got the right balance between pub & restaurant. They've got a really tasty seasonal beer on from Badger, called "Stinger" on there at the moment, which I'd definitely recommend!
Garden looked nice, but it was raining on both our visits so we never sat in it!

The Golden Galleon, Exceat

This used to be one of the best pubs (they had such a great choice of real ales) in the area before Vintage Inns got hold of it.
Sadly now it's just a food (and not very good food at that) pub with very little character. Just like the Trout at Wolvercote in Oxfordshire, the only reason to visit this place now is on a nice sunny day to sit in the garden and admire the great views.

White Horse, Great Baddow

Well kept beer. Friendly and efficient staff, even when very busy. Roughly 60% of the pub in non-smoking. Good food menu, which is competitively priced.

The Tyburn, Marble Arch

Quite like this place. Decor is more like that found in Lloyds No.1 (i.e more bar than pub). Good service (Monday lunchtime) even though busy.
Not as many guest beers on as as normally get in Wetherspoons, however it was a very good pint of London Pride. Food was up to Wetherspoons good standards at low prices. The only disappointment on the food was that the Beer & Burger offer didn't start until 2pm.

The Duck Inn, Writtle

Disappointing. No Spitfire left early on a Saturday lunchtime. Half-full glasses of lager from previous night (we arrived there just as it opened) hadn't been cleared from garden, meaning they were swarming with hundreds of wasps!
Thought the food (including children's menu) was overpriced. Having said that, the snacks we had (I had sausage & chips) were good, especially the chips. Good play equipment for children.
