Superb ambience, the Abbot Ale is the best kept I know. Excellent place, and good food too.

My wife an I went there for a meal having booked a table. The beer was fine, and the menu was full with the exception on the puddings which were uninspiring to say the least.
We therefore decided to have a starter, I had garlic bread which was just that, nothing to shout about. I ordered a sizzling combo for my main course and was presented with a small dish with 2 small strips of chicken, a few bite size pieces of beef and 2 prawns with a few pieces of red onion and noodles. To go with it I had half a ramekin of rice with sweet peppers. I asked if that was it, and was told "yes", so I ordered a portion of chips to bulk it out a bit.
Whilst eating we wanted another drink, after waiting 5 minutes I gave up my attempt to find a waitress and went to the bar to get my own drink. The barmaid was more interested in finishing her conversation than serving me, and didn't even suggest they bought them over to the table.
All in all, small portions and bad service, I shall not be going back.

The Guildhall, Folkestone
Another of my favourite pubs, well kept ales and welcoming hosts.
