The Gribble Inn, Oving

Met some friends holidaying in the Chichester area and suggested The Gribble as it was featured in the Good Pub Guide. So glad we did! The building itself is gorgeous, and has a beautiful garden. The real ales are excellent, and the guys were thrilled to find the micro brewery on site. We didn't unfortunately have time to eat, but will definitely be back to do so, as the food looked delicious.

The landlord and staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the pub has the most lovely and soppy dog we've ever met. We'll be back very soon!

The George and Dragon, Houghton

Went here for a large family meal just before Christmas (13 of us, including three children). Excellent meals all round at reasonable prices, very friendly and efficient service and good real ales for the beer drinkers in our party. The pub was lovely and welcoming with real log fires, and the restaurant area was very cosy. We'll definitely be back.

The Elmer Hotel, Middleton on Sea

Very friendly local, nicely decorated and excellent food. Handy for a walk on the beach to walk off your meal too.

The Blue Anchor, Helston

Strange pub - lots of local characters and can be very blokey and a bit grubby looking, but lovely on a cold winter's afternoon. The locals are very friendly and the beer is amazing - nectar in a glass! Always our first port of call when we travel down to Cornwall from the home counties.

The Henty Arms, Ferring

Lovely proper local pub - good food at excellent prices, very friendly staff. Unlike the previous poster, have always had excellent real ales here.

The Rowbarge Hotel, St Johns

Note - visited again this week and the place has had a small refurb. The decor is now a much gentler cream colour and the place looks a lot fresher.

The Royal Oak, Wood Street

Simply the best pub in Surrey (and has the Camra awards to prove it!) Tony Oliver, the landlord, is extremely serious about his real ales and you will never have a bad pint here. Good bar food (at lunchtimes only), and a beautiful pub cat too!

The Rowbarge Hotel, St Johns

The Rowbarge changed hands last year, thanks goodness! The pub is now much more friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent with a large menu to choose from (there are two new chefs) although some dishes can still be a little pricey, and there are friendly faces behind the bar again. Beer and wine still on the pricey side, but the pub is now definitely worth visiting again.
