This pub rocks. No music, no games machines, just fab fab beer brilliantly kept, excellent simple food and always packed with interesting folk. We had to move and miss it terribly but we'll be back sometime. Please please don't change.

Pleasant and convenient for quick drink and okay burger. Staff helpful and efficient. Not a religious experience but not an unpleasant one either.

Love this pub! Hubby raves about beers - PROPER real ales and bitters. Once i can drink again, I look forward to working through the range. Food reasonably priced and does what is says on the tin. Not our local but likely to become our regular. This is a real gem in a sea of dross. We have had several lovely afternoons here!

The Cyder House Inn, Shackleford
Lovely for easy long lunch. Took inlaws who live in nearby Guildford and we left feeling fat and happy. Prices on the high side but portions were generous - my pudding defeated me and i had to leave it unfinished altho it was delicious which is unprecedented. I was pregnant so cannot comment on the beer range but am a real ale lover so will need to revisit once little one arrives! Good service and really nice atmosphere. Noticed there was a welcoming looking garden and play area. Thought the decor (esp car park signs) was fun and cosy. Was a little surprised at some of the mean reviews. Our experience was so very positive.

The Abinger Hatch, Abinger Common
First time user, arrived with baby, and 2 other new mums. Notice advised children were welcome but not in bar area. We took seat at the farthest corner in an empty room from another user. Pub took our money and (overpriced) food arrived ages later. One mum breastfed discretely, one of the little ones cried (less than 2-3 minutes) while mum readied herself to feed her. Within minutes we were approached and asked to take the baby outside if she/he cried. Our food was then removed before we had finished. If this pub does not want children, fair enough but have a sign posted advising no children and don't take our money or this is plain daylight robbery. A pleasant day spoiled by upsetting experience treated like second class citizens when we were being as sensitive and discrete as possible.

The Roebuck, Borough
A lovely local. Beer ok, food ok, but people fab and quiz was great apart from the time we woz robbed at the final whistle - prob by smug poster below but atmosphere too good to hold grudges. Best quizmaster is Michael by far. Big shout out to him!
