In March 2012 had a sign up saying the pub is now a private residence

The Reindeer Pub & Kitchen, Norwich
Re-opened in Dec 2011, have visited twice and found great range of beers including Thornbridge Jaipur, Wolf, Oakham and Humpy Dumpty. We hesitated to order food as it is at the top end of pub prices, but really glad we did, it's fantastic. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

As of Dec 2011 has been completely refurbished and reopened - now more modern & minimalist style with upstairs restaurant. Had a good pint of Adnams. Fingers crossed the Commodore will finally become a good place to drink and eat.

Brilliant proper village pub. I wish it was my local. 6 ales on gravity and 4 on hand pump, along with some Belgian fruit beers. I had Humpty Dumpty, B& T Two Brewers, Mauldons Silver Adder and Titanic Stout, all excellent and well kept. Good wine list and whiskey selection too (the forthcoming whiskey tasting evening is unfortunately sold out). We had Sunday roast in the dining room looking out onto the garden. Everyone was happy with their meal, we were offered more veg and gravy, and the desserts were lovely.
I don't know what this says about Broome but whilst the Ladies' had a calendar of meetings for the local gardening club, the Gents' had a machine dispensing herbal viagra. Like I said, I wish it was my local.

We stayed here as part of a very cheap Adnams package deal. I can now understand why the deal was on - The Plough is a pub in need of some punters! I must preface any criticism by saying the staff were very attentive and quick to put things right. Being an Adnams pub, Bitter, Gunhill and Yuletide were on offer (3 other clips turned round). The Gunhill was unfortunately vinegary, indicating a very very stale beer. Not enough custom to support 3 ales being on? However it was swapped immediately for the Yuletide which was fresh and tasty. There is a large bar area and adjoining restaurant. We ate in the bar as the restaurant area had not been set up becuase it was so quiet. In fact only two other people ate that evening, and only 2 others came in for a drink. The place felt very empty. The dinner was fine but not great. No more eating customers were expected as the kitchen closed early. The promised cooked breakfast became a bacon butty due to lack of eggs. But it was a good bacon butty! Our room was large but tired round the edges, tiles off in the bathroom and dirty skirting. Essentially the place needs some TLC and some more customers, and it could be fine.

A large pub with a main bar / food area and smaller bar with pool table and darts board. Seems very popular for food (not tried) which looks to be of the traditional pub grub variety. The beer includes Woodforde's Wherry which is always in very good nick - probably the best kept pint to be had in Oulton Broad.

A group of us visited for Sunday lunch. Very attractive beamed building with large fireplace separating out the restaurant area from the bar/lounge area. Good beer, including Black Sheep and a couple of others. The lunch was good although the roast beef and lamb weren't particularly flavoursome, and the service was good.

This place had a series of short-lived tenants as the St Andrews Tavern but in the past year or so has been renamed and tidied up. It is now a great pub with a good range of beers (if Purity's Mad Goose is on try it!) including Meantime, Adnams and guests. Pie & mash was pretty good too. If you like decent real ale pubs, you'll like it here.

The Berney Arms Inn, Berney Arms
We walked out from Reedham (after one for the road at the Reedham Riverside Beer Festival at the Lord Nelson) in a very leisurely 1 hour 40 mins and were very ready for the good beer when we got there. Humpty Dumpty's Little Sharpie, Golden Gorse and Wherryman's Way IPA, and one from Tipples too, all served well. A very cosy refuge from the windy marshes, very popular on a Tuesday afternoon with walkers and boating families. Perhaps could use a little TLC, but not really the worse for it. We walked back and the wind sobered us up enough to stop off at the Nelson for just one more.

Thumbs up for doing a few real ales, including a local Wolf Straw Dog, but served way too cold.

Always good beer, this time including Hopback Summer Lightning and Buffy's Norwegian Blue (plus a few others).

Decent pub, Chalk Hill Brewery beers (did I just have an under par pint or is CHB not as good as it used to be?), very busy when Norwich are at home.

Great range of beers including some from the brilliant Meantime. Very good food, large garden. Lovely pub.

There was actually a queue waiting for this pub to open up on Sunday! I'm not sure why this one in particular is more popular than the others - the usual range of Adnams and fairly good food. Worth a visit, just get there early if you want a seat.

Totally agree with previous reviews. Finally a decent beer garden in the city, with good beer. Nice one, Grain!

Lovely location looking out over Breydon Water, with plenty of outdoor seating. I'm told this place has recently been refurbished and reopened under new owners. Blackfriars Maritime and Woodford's Wherry were on. The dining room was stiflingly hot after a very sunny day, but plenty of other areas were air conditioned. Food was so-so - my 'pork and leek sausages made with Aspalls Cider' were plainly cheap pale pink frozen sausages with not a trace of leek or cider, and very little pork! But my partner's burger and chips were good, with fresh made chips. Not listed here but also good beer and great views from the pub at the Burgh Castle Marina.

Visited again in July 2010. A staggering range of beers including Humpty Dumpty, Green Jack and Fat Cat. I like this pub a lot, particularly for the location and beer, but it doesn't half stink of dog.

Perfect for sitting by the river on a hot day. Lovely garden, friendly staff, average food (tinned salmon in the 9 salmon and asparagus quiche). Wherry, Adnams and Nethergate's Village Idiot were well-kept.

The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe
Visited for a swift half on the way up the road to the Jolly Sailor's beer festival, and were impressed by the beer (Brancaster Best and at least two others) and the view over the tidal creaks so came back for Sunday lunch in the conservatory restaurant. The food was excellent and the service pretty good. We paid just under 50 for two mains, desserts and wine. Feels like the Jolly Sailor's slightly posher big sister.

The Jolly Sailors, Brancaster Staithe
Visited on the weekend of the Jolly Sailor's Beer Festival and had a great time. It looks like they usually have at least four ales on, although of course much more choice during the beer fest. The Brancaster Best was very very good. Pizzas were delicious. Large pub with restaurant area and a big garden. Will definitely be visiting again.

Visited on a sunny Sunday lunchtime, when it was very busy. Refurbishments mentioned in other reviews seem to be just about finished. Stocked Adnams and an excellent Mahseer IPA from Green Jack. Food took a while but was good and reasonably priced.

The Chainlocker and Shipwrights, Falmouth
Visited in March 2010 for crab sandwiches and a couple of pints of Sharps and Skinners. Very friendly, great beer (pub was participating in cask ale week), and good fresh fish menu. Highly recommended.

2010 CAMRA NE Suffolk Pub winner. Had at least 4 real ales on, including Timothy Taylor's Landlord, and one from local Wolf brewery, both good. Two main areas in the pub, one foodie (not yet tried) and the other with TV, pool table etc. Worth a visit.

Great beer, lovely riverside location, but disappointing and overpriced food.

Last visited in August 2009 for the beer festival and had a great time. This is a good pub to visit by train in the summer (15 min walk from station). From memory, local Humpty Dumpty and Wolf beers usually on. If you enjoy the Humpty Dumpty beers, visit the brewery while you are in Reedham - very friendly owners and excellent beer.
15 Apr 2010 11:07
Great views from the outside seating over Oulton Broad, but the standard of the beers (usually including Adnams Bitter and Broadside) is inconsistent at best.
15 Apr 2010 11:02
A very attractive country pub with an emphasis on food - a great place to visit in the summer for its large garden. A good range of ales including local Green Jack beers. Food is good but a bit pricey for what you get. If you're going by train, take the path on the left as you come out of the station for a short cut - don't follow the main road (and take a torch for the walk back!).

This new venture gets top marks for real ale - lots on offer and well kept. The pub doesn't seem to have found its personality yet though - it feels like a traditional small local's pub which has been furnished with wine bar-ish decor, but has kept the big screen TV and dart board. There was also a toddler in the bar when we there in there (albeit about 5ish on a friday rather than late night) - a hazard when carrying two full pints! I'd come back for the beer but not necessarily the atmosphere. Perhaps it has a different feel in the evening.

We visited here in March, at the end of a walk from Kingsand, and had a very welcome decent pint of St Austell's Tribute. Carvery and two for 10 lunches - we had ham egg and chips. The ham was OK but wouldn't have been happy to pay more than a fiver. The staff were friendly enough and the service was fine. Did notice the desserts were kept in an un-staffed public room which housed the pool table - nothing would have stopped us having a nibble (no, we didn't!).

Visited in March 2010, half the large pub is given over to a good restaurant. Skinner's Heligan Honey and Hopback's Summer Lightning both good. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. The best food in Kingsand / Cawsand.

The Halfway House Inn, Kingsand
The Skinner's Betty Stoggs was very good here, but the pub lacks atmosphere and the food wasn't great (fish pie was watery, and oddly served with roast parsnips). Avoid the lonely and old fashioned dining room and eat in the bar if you must.
15 Apr 2010 10:29
Small, friendly pub with live music on a Saturday night. At end of March 2010 stocked Skinner's Heligan Honey andSharp's No 6 (and one other but memory fails), both well kept. The food was 8 - 12 for mains, and good for the price. Traditional pub grub (burgers, pasta, ribs) supplemented with a variety of seafood dishes. Book ahead in high season. Well worth a visit.

Duke's Head, Somerleyton
Unfortunately since my previous comment the pub has changed hands. Friends report poor food and bad service, although I can't comment on that as we didn't eat this time.. I can report that they've stopped stocking Green Jack and when we visited had the ubiquitous East Anglian 3 - Greene King IPA, Adnams Bitter and Woodforde's Wherry. We tried the Wherry which was not exactly off but dull as ditchwater. Why stock 3 bitters of the same sort of style and ABV (and then not bother to keep them properly)? I won't bother to make the trip out there again for a while. I feel sorry for the locals.
