Bailies, Peterhead

Decent pub hidden away off the main square. Long bar with tables along the other wall. Friendly staff and a decent range of beers. Two live feeds for the football. No food or kids.

Roseburn Bar, Edinburgh

Great boozer. Good staff and beer. Worth a visit but maybe not on international rugby days as it will be too busy to get in.

Filthy McNasty's, Edinburgh

This used to be a regular haunt in my younger years when it was called the Rose Revived. It really has gone downhill. It can get very busy in summer due to the tourists. I don't think may will return however as the food and beer is over priced and poor quality.

The staff are all casual and could not care less about providing a service. During my visit last month the manager seemed to spend most of her time arguing with complaining customers.

There are far better pubs in Rose Street where you will not feel you are being "ripped off" in.

Platform 3, Linlithgow

The previous reviewers have got this place spot on.

It is a small but reasonably friendly boozer. The kind of place where you can get a chat or if you want to be left alone no-one will bother you.

Generally the pint is very good.

As already said however the staff can vary tremendously. There is regular staff and casual. It is amazing that the same person can be good one day and poor the next. They definitely play favourites.

The Crown Arms, Linlithgow

Was working in the area for three months and this was the nearest pub to my digs. Looks like a nice we friendly local. Boy was I wrong.

This is the type of place that everyone turns around and looks at you when you enter and ingore you whilst you are there. Thankfully I visited with workmates but after a few nights we decided to take our custom elsewhere. We did speak to a bar manager in another pub in the town and he confirmed that it has a certain reputation for driving away new customers.

The tall barman with the moustache must be the slowest and most ignorant I have ever come across in my travels in Britain.

Be Warned. PS the pint is fairly good.
