i must had caught this place on a bad night, bar staff were good enough and it was busy, but not too busy. Few t*ssers in there though which was rather annoying - must of had too many guinesses.

A modern and very nice bar. Good to watch the football in during midweek and gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights with some top talent. Everyone in there seems to be over 21 which is good and the food is pretty good too. Cant really fault it.

The Slug and Lettuce, St Albans
Big place, more for the mid 20's and above crowd. Good as the chavs cant invadde it. All in all pretty good.

Place is ok. Gets extremely busy at the weekends and you still get people who stand at the bar drinking when they should move out the way so people can get served! Sunday seems a better day to visit this place. Only go there if you have to.

Good if you get in early. Can take a age to get served if you get in after 9.30. Generally good music and quite a bit of talent, however you get the impression that the ladies know they are a attractive too!

This is a bit of a student pub, however they play good music and the talent is the best i have seen anywhere. Takes a while to get served and can feel a bit like the invisible man when someone with breasts stands next to you, but all in all its good. Worth a visit.

Waterend Barn, St Albans
Agree totally with previous comments. Not to sound like a women hater, but all the guys in this place are friendly and talkative, but as mentioned already - if a women thinks she is in the slightest attractive then its a chance for them to be rude and pretentious. Shame really, but this seems to be the general trend in St Albans, so if you are coming for the women you can look but probably wont be able to touch!
With the Bar itself, good non smoking pub and the bar staff cope as well as then can considering how busy the place gets. Get there too late and you will have to queue and dont even think about wearing trainers! No one has mentioned also that there is a restaurant attached to this place which actually does very good and reasonably priced food.
