The Old Smugglers Inn, St Brelade
This was the best pub we found, the beer was good (tried two and the cider) and the food was fine, as was the host. We also were suprised at the lack of pubs on Jersey, but were perfectly happy to have visited this one.

The Old Portelet Inn, St Brelade
Visited this pub 2nd of October with my wife and her mother, pouring with rain and very windy. Great to see a log fire in the bar, had a pint of draught bass (first class) and we sat at a table near the fire looking at the menu. After a while a young chap politely asked us if we were ready to order any food or did we want him to return later, which we asked him to. It was really great and when the food arrived we couldn't fault it. Then - - - - wailing from the other end of the bar, then children running around the bar, parents oblivious to the screams - - - then more families with children arrived with the associated playground noise. We then realised we were in a "Family Friendly" pub, something we like to avoid at all costs, as family usually means aggitated children who can't sit still. I know I sound a grouch, but I don't want to eat and drink in a playground, I believe pubs are for adults and we later discovered the upstairs was for adults but as my mother in law can't get up the stairs it had little bearing. So be warned .

We found The Woolpack to be friendly, had a good atmosphere with a really good log fire. The beer was spot on and the meals we had in the restaurant were much better than expected and also better than some of the "trendy" places in not so far away Whitstable.

Also an ex-resident,I'm also pleased to say the pub has returned to it's former glory with a good selection of very drinkable, well kept beers. On my recent visit I was impressed with the re-furb and liked the stripped and polished floor. Looking forward to the next time.

Le Moulin de Lecq, St Ouen
Very nice setting, strange bar, usual Liberation, indifferent service and while looking at a menu a waiter said with pleasure "no good looking at that, foods off today". Guess what, so were we.
