The Rose and Crown, Halstead

In answer to 'Craiginbromley' - I am local and this did indeed used to be a nice country pub that had a nice vibe to it. We used to visit there regularly on a Saturday night. We hadn't been back there for about 18 months, not for any particular reason, but have since found out from talking to local people that since Bob left left there's been a change in the clientele going there and it's gone donwhill. I popped in there during the snowy weather in the last month and could see there was a difference, it was empty other than a large party in one bar and one bloke in the other bar (who was talking rubbish whilst randomly swearing to the barmaid). We had one drink and went over the 'The Cock' which was packed and had that same nice vibe that the Rose and Crown used to have when Bob was there, so he's taken it with him - well done Bob! I'm open minded and accept everyone's different but I personally don't really want to be going to places and listening to people effing and blinding when I'm out for a quiet drink with my wife and daughter. I've only been there once since Bob left but having spoken to quite a few people they are all saying the same thing, so I would have to presume it's gonna be one of those type of pubs now and won't bother going there. Shame as it looks like it still has the good range of real ales there which I used to enjoy. All the regulars that used to go to their can now be found in 'The Cock' - I think that speaks for itself. I will try the R&C again in the future at some point though to see if it's any better....

The General Wolfe, Westerham

Lovely little pub. Sells one of my favourite beers - Abbot Ale, also speckled hen. I disagree with rentaquote that they should sell local beers from the westerham brewery as I don't rate them at all. Often on a Sunday the chef brings out the left over roast potatoes for everyone which is a nice touch too. It is a small pub though but has an ok decking area out the back for when it's warm.

The George & Dragon, Westerham

Nice pub. I haven't eaten here but go there for the courage directors - fantastic!
Can get busier near the bar if there's a football game showing but is big enough to find seats elsewhere. Nice pub, good relaxed atmosphere, highly recommended.

The Bricklayers Arms, Bromley

This is the best pub in Bromley by far for me. It's got a different layout but seems very spacious and you can always get a table. Nice ales there and my mates like the oranjeboom. Always polite and friendly staff and never full of drunken youngsters!
Like johndan said - it's a great place to go for a chat with your mates or partner in a nice environment.
Also has an extensive outside area for smokers now on two levels with wooden decking and outdoor heaters.

The Halfway House, Sevenoaks

I really like this pub - I feel it has a nice vibe. It's good for watching the football but I've never found it loud and full of over the top football supporters. It's never too busy on a Sunday which I prefer although maybe the owners don't! Two great strong ales on tap in the Speckled hen and Abbot Ale.
A more traditional pub with friendly people there and a nice layout.

The Queens Arms, Slapton

I visited this pub September 2007 and had a fantastic dish there called 'the beast of bodmin' which was a lovely hot chicken curry. My girlfriend had a scampi dish was nice too.
Very friendly staff, lovely inside, traditional old country pub. The garden looked nice too. I can't remember the ales exactly but I remember I liked what I had and i'm pretty fussy! Will definately return when i'm next in Devon.
